Alex,
Congratulations on completing your Marder I! It looks great. Like it's really faded by exposure to an unyielding sun.
Thank you for sharing it with us.

Clayton and Gary thank you.
I began to better manage the deadlines !
I appreciate the principle of group built who allowed make different things and share with other modellers.

Hi Everyone!
Some of you may remember back in the early days when Chris (C4Willy) offered me this Nashorn. Now, I'm here to build it into the campaign. There is also a build blog here:

Here's the box art:
I've got two months. The Friuls are already assembled and waiting for the blackening process:

One of these days I'll try a set of Friuls on something, but I'm afraid that I'll really like them and effectively double the price of any model I use them on

I know what you mean Clayton I used Kaisen tracks on my Panzer IV build and I loved them and the price but they don't have the weight and the natural sag of the Fruils. But I can't afford the $80 or so NZ dollars to buy them. The Kaisen set cost me around $28 NZ dollars incl. shipping so a much better prospect for me.
Gaz I was kidding about you building the Nashorn for this campaign LOL. I look forward to seeing just what you do with her. I know from other reviews that this kit has it's challenges. Good luck buddy!

Pawel,
Excellent! I really like the way the colors blend. An awe inspiring paint job. Really like the tracks and bogies, too.

Hi everyone. Wanted to get an update posted. I'm almost done with my Jagdpanther. I added some mud...hopefully I didn't get too carried away. I need to get some pics in natural light. The colors and detail just aren't coming through in under the kitchen floros. Let me know what you guys think. Please critique my mudd. Note one track run has not had the dark brow mud added yet so I am aware of that. I also need to get some mud into the crannies of the track. Good builds everyone.

That's some good-looking filth, Bryan!

Bryan,
Your mud looks pretty good. My question is, do you intend to put it in a diorama?
Mud its very subjective. In this case, wet mud up to the axles implies very recent and very deep mud.
Dried mud under spatters of fresh, wet mud would imply longer exposure. So it all really depends on what you're trying to convey.
I grew up on a dirt road that was often rutted with mud. I imagine good photos of muddy wheels in colour would be helpful and plentiful on the net.

Yes, I intend to put it in a small diorama with a gnarly rutted road with a bit of snow on the high points and nasty slush water in the ruts. I want to recreate one of the scenes you see on the history channel where men are trying to move equipment in deep mud, except with no men, just my Jagdpanther trying to crawl along

Bryan,
Your camo and weathering a fantastic--just enough chipping and scratches to look realistic and not overdone. The mud looks good too. To me the exhaust covers look somehow unfinished--they seem to stand out as fairly pristine compared to the rest of the back end--are those still in progress?

Hi Mark,
Thank you for bringing the exhaust to my attention. I have some new Vallejo rust that I will try on the pipes themselves. The flame suppressors I will scratch up and rust a bit. I was going to do a bunch of work last night but fell asleep getting the kid to bed lol. Hopefully will have a finished pic soon

Going to call this one complete. I tidied up my camo lines and did a simple pin wash to define the detail. I am not entirely happy with how the zimmerit looks. I put the wash on too heavily so the zim crevices are too dark. Next time I will thin down the wash. I was also unhappy with how the decals on the zim behaved. They refused to sink down no matter how much microsol/microset I used. In the end just let it be.
Haven't gone for a weathered look on this one. Simple display model. Or fresh from the factory after the Ferdinand -> Elepant conversion. Either way I like it and she looks good next to my Tiger II in the display case.

And I'm done with the Jagdpanzer IV. My airbrush is giving horrible overspray so I had to brush paint the camo. This is the first time I have put all tools on before painting and I think I prefer this method - much stronger bond to the rest of the tank and no need to tidy up minor cement patches.
Just an oil pin wash and then oil wash for weathering. While most of my tanks are all buttoned up I have decided that my Pz IV series will all have some humans shown so Fritz and Hans here are the first of many.

Always love an ambush pattern . And seeing those 2 excellent Elephants makes me glad my attempt with the Italeri one will be in the Animals campaign. As it is I'll try my hand at Revell's Jaguar 1

McRunty, Pablo, and Geoboffin very strong work!
I am calling my Jagdpanther late done. I really enjoyed the build. Tamiya always comes together well. If I could do somethings different I would have gone with the early style exhaust and or held back a bit with the mud. I enjoyed that I finally built my first German AFV and that I discovered Tamiya lacquer thinner, really lays their acrylics down nice. Finished just as time as I am moving from California to Michigan on the 14th and have lots to do!! As always comments and suggestions welcome.
