Wow, what a great way to start my day... finding three completed builds!!
Congratulations Rory, Richard and Bryan!
Rory, your Ferdinand looks great! I really like the camo pattern and the way things are delineated by the pin wash. Weathering Zimmerit is hard. Too little and it may as well not be there. Very display-worthy!
Richard, I love the look of your Jagdpanzer IV! The ambush scheme came out perfectly and the decals laid down very nicely.
Bryan, your Jagdpanther looks fantastic! Nice wet mud, too! Very impressive. Once you get it into a diorama you'll have to post some pictures for us to admire.
Great work, all three of you!

Richard,
Thank you for submitting your Jaguar 1 to the campaign. As I know nothing of the Jaguar 1, I'm really looking forward to seeing your your build completed.

Gazza,
As a newbie to Armorama with only two other campaigns under my belt, I must mention that your enthusiasm as a campaign leader is fantastic and motivating.
I can say that having a leader who is seemingly not present has a serious effect on a campaign.
A big thanks to Gazza for the opportunity to build my Tank Hunter!

Received the replacement engine compartment, from Verlinden. Hopefully, I will be able to get back to my build tomorrow.

Good Morning Gents.. (9am PST)
Hope everyone had a productive weekend on your builds. I sure, did finally!!
WIP
Masked and ready for Primer.
" BORDER="0">
Tank is primer with Tamiya rattle can and Tracks are primer with Vallejo Black.
" BORDER="0">
My 1st time at preshading. I should've used a .2 needle instead of a .3 needle. Tracks are painted with Tamiya Metallic Grey mixed with Tamiya Flat Black about 60/40.

" BORDER="0">
Trumpeter manual is asking to paint with Tamiya XF59 Desert Yellow. So I did and it looks like a Flesh color. I would like to remove the paint and repaint it Dark Yellow. I did some research and found that Oven Cleaner and Windex work great. Im going to give the Windex a try tonight after work. Does anyone has a better method on removing Acrylic Paint?

I'd just paint over it...maybe a re-prime job first?
Posted: Monday, March 06, 2017 - 03:10 AM UTC
Same as Clayton's though I'd do away with re-priming. I'd spray on the dark yellow light or thin in some areas such that the end result would have different shades.

Honestly.. I think it looks fine, especially if you plan on adding camo and weathering.
If you just hate it, paint over it.
But if you must strip it, simple green is amazing.

John,
In many cases, the late war dark yellow was quite close to flesh tone. But it's great to see progress.

John,
If it were my model, and I realize it isn't, I would just paint the Dark Yellow right over it. If you thin the Dark Yellow you might get a "modulation" or "pre-shade" effect which I've been experimenting with and I like the results. Play around with it, I wouldn't strip it.
It's looking like a great build-good job!
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Hey JohnA,
No expert here, but your base color is looking pretty good from the inter web side of things. And I tend to agree with the guys above. I'll just add ... Before taking drastic measures, you might try walking away i.e., don't stare at the model for a few days. Come back later with a fresh outlook and when your focus is not tunneled-in on the immediate painted surface. This will also give the paint ample time to cure properly, which I believe can actually effect its color. I originally began practicing the "walk away" method so as to train myself to stop being so heavy-handed with the airbrush and even when painting by hand. HTH.

JohnA,
I think I agree with most that simply painting over the existing paint is the best way to go, but if in the future you do need to strip acrylics you can use Isopropyl Alcohol. That will eat up even thoroughly dried Tamiya acrylic paints. Windex or ammonia would be for removing future floor polish. You can use oven cleaner, but that's pretty nasty stuff just to get acrylics off.

John, to peel off my models, I use Isopropyl alcohol.
I full the cup of my airbrush, set more pressure and "blast" the paint very close. This peel off the paint very quickly and easy.
Also I do this to chip some white camo on demarked areas.
HTH

Alvaro

Hi guys,
I call my Stug G late, finish.
Some pics of the last work.
The bags are green putty, shaped and roled, my first try, I like them.
The antenna its detachable for transport
The paint was done with Ammo paints, the "dust" over some plates its Ammo filter for 3 tone camo. First try also.
The general dust and mud, are home made pigments of chalk pastels.
The rust at the aft of cargo its real one. Come from and old iron water tube.
Hope you like it!.
Comments? sugestions?
See you in the next campaing.
Regards from the south
