Would the 40 foot container fit on the M1070/M1000?
Thanks

No, it is too long for the trailer deck. The overall deck length is 10.58 m, which equals only 34.71 feet. The container would overhang the rear by a little less than 6 feet, which would not allow the rear ramps to come up. Their 20 foot container would fit though.
The 40 foot container is usually carrier on an M872 40' flatbed trailer.

That is actually an M915A3, which is a totally different truck built by Freightliner.
The M915 and M915A1 were AM General-built trucks.
Here is Miniman Factory's M915A1 guntruck.

Very cool. I had not seen the M872 trailer yet. Any other trailers they plan on doing? An M870A1 Lowbed would also be nice. It would be perfect to put the Meng D9R on.

In point of fact they are not CONEX containers, rather I believe they are ISO containers. CONEX containers are smaller and use different locking connections (I think). So, if you are planning on doing a US military container make sure it is the right type.

CONEX seems to have turned into a generic term for any intermodal container.

You are correct. The reason they are called Tricon and Quadcon is that each smaller section connects together to make a 20 foot ISO-sized container. On the Tricon, 3 sections are joined together. On the Quadcon, 4 sections are joined together.

Quoted TextIf they did the M870A1, then this would be a sweet build.
You would also need M983A4 for that...
To build it exactly as in the picture, yes. The current Trumpeter M983 tractor could also pull the M870A1 /w D9R just fine as well though.

I'm building this kit (well the AFV CLUB Re-box with the Patriot PAC2) and its very nice. I would post pictures but at work, and don't have a third part photo share site.

Sorry, but it isn't a D9. This tractor is probably a D6, much smaller than a D9.

Regarding the M915, I hope we get the option of separate tractor and trailer kits
For the M1120... To build something like this one unloading the HUMVEE.. is the Italeri kit sufficient, or would you need to kitbash both the Italeri and Trumpeter kits?
Hisham
It is looking like for a really top notch model you are going to have to combine the Italeri LRS parts with the Trumpeter HEMTT tractor.
(Just my opinion - and Gino's)
Hisham check out my thread (I'm sure you have already) over at:
http://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/250147
Where in I attempt to bring the Italeri HEMTT up to the same standards as the new LHS parts in the kit.

Yes, the Italeri kit will build into what you see in your pic, minus the cab armor, which is available from Real Model via an Eduard PE set.
![](../../../i.ebayimg.com/images/g/8RUAAMXQ6M5RZB2L/s-l500.jpg)
It comes down to how detailed of a model you want. If you want a highly detailed model, I recommend kit-bashing the Italeri LHS parts with the Trumpeter M983. If you just want a model of an M1120 LHS, go with the Italeri kit from the box.
Bottom line, kitbashing isn't a must to get an M1120 LHS as you see in the pic.

Oh well, it would still be great to have an M870A1 in plastic as well. Again, Miniman Factory already does one in resin if Trumpeter doesn't do one.

I also highly recommend Trumpeters M983 kit since you can save all the updates and scratch builds that you need for the Italeri base. I can tell you that upgrading the LHS and flatrack is a work for itself. Perhaps if you wait a while, I think (hope) that Trumpeter will release other HEMTT variants. I provided them with references on M977 and M978.
