Magachon project was cancelled due to lack of budget and interest, not because the Shot-Cal versions were superior.

Thanks for the correction, Michael. Do you have any more info about the Magachon project to share with us? I couldn't find much more except for the picture I've uploaded. As a matter of fact, I was relying on the info gathered from this book: https://ospreypublishing.com/modern-israeli-tanks-and-infantry-carriers-1985-2004

I'm well aware that the info in it is not 100% reliable, because they also state this:

That never happened involving a Magachon (or any other HAPC in Lebanon for that matter) because only one prototype was build which obviously wasn't sent to Lebanon.

Captured Egyptian IS-3M during a military parade in Jerusalem in 1968. According to Wikipedia, "The IDF itself experimented with a few captured IS-3M tanks, but found them ill-suited to fast-moving desert tank warfare; those that were not scrapped were turned into stationary defensive pillbox emplacements in the Jordan River area"

"The Egyptians eventually lost about 75 of their total force of IS-3Ms during the Six Day War. About 30 of these were captured by the IDF in operating or repairable condition. Some of these, with the engines removed, were employed by the Israelis as static artillery or pillbox positions along the Jordan River in the West Bank and in the Bar Lev line facing the Suez Canal. These saw limited action during the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War in 1973."

This (very) rare "Nagmatruc" is optimized for ECM.

This T-34 was used as static artillery position along the Jordan river. The crew would access the turret through the hatch cut in the rear plate via the (removed) engine compartment.

By the way, the last three pics of the "Nagmachon" were taken during the shooting of "Beaufort". https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/beaufort/

The use of the "Doghouse" variant of the "Nagmachon" is historically incorrect, since Israel pulled out of Lebanon in May 2000, while the "Doghouse" only appeared in 2002. I'ts a quiet good movie though...

Not far behind (if at all...) on my all-time favorite AFV list is the uber-mean looking "Nagmachon Doghouse".

A few more new pictures of the "Merkava II" based "Ofek" HAPC, developed for the use of Command/Ordnance/Medical troops.

That's a lot of firepower! (At least) a Battalion-sized exercise of "Merkava III's" on the Golan-Heights.

They're hard to come by, especially close-ups...
