Mine is pretty realistic, some 20 kits or so with only 3 additions for the last two years.

I try to think that once I have run out of models, surely there will be something that catches my attention so there is no need to buy in advanced.

And for those who have a big stash, you should not feel bad... collecting models has become a parallel hobby, like collecting Lego sets, cans of Coke or stamps. just that you build some of them.

What is doubly frustrating however is I managed to break my airbrush last night cleaning it so I'm going to have to buy another one. Buggar! Still I suppose I can work on figures for a bit if I can't spray

At least, if you don't have an airbrush you can get spares for its an ideal opportunity to upgrade. I like my H&S Evolution 2in1.

Heh.. for those who think their stash is small, mine is practically just a small corner with 3 kits waiting for their respective campaigns to start.

I only buy 1 kit a month (2 max) on account of the hobby being on the pricey side and my limited income. Frankly, 1 kit a month is good enough for me thanks to my itchy finger syndrome where I can't leave a model alone for too long without wanting to add bops and bits to it even after I have deemed it completed.

What was once a meager stash of about 30 kits has dwindled down to only a few now, and those I just put on sale in the Buy, Sell or Trade forum. Most of the original collection I donated to a person who then sends them off to troops stationed abroad. I knew I'd never get around to building them so they might as well go to someone who will. My new philosophy is building one at a time, and then, if I want, buy another and build that. For a while now I've been frustrated that I couldn't get to all of the kits that I had and I just got tired of feeling that way.

Steve H, nice to see someone else who's a figure stasher as well lol. It's true about getting them while you can for later years. When I was with my evil ex I didn't buy anything for years as she seemed to spend my wages before they were earned on crap like bags and shoes which I couldn't see the point in as they all looked the same anyway unlike 100 boxes of German figures. After I threw her out I started buying and building again. Now I've effectively retired due to ill health and can't be bothered to chase women anymore as they're expensive, temperamental and a headache I can spend my limited money on what I like to refer to as my toys as they keep me out of trouble and relaxed lol. Another bonus with being single is I can have part of my stash in the living room in a big pile and noone there to complain about it making the place look untidy

Here’s a justification for stashing … A kit you may really want becomes discontinued leaving you to shop on EvilBay only to pay exorbitant prices — hate when that happens! 😖

And i guess we are only counting kits here...because I bet we all have lots of boxes full of spares and bits and pieces. Plus like myself boxes of wooden bases in differnt shapes, balsa wood sheets, styrene sheet and rod by the hundreds, pieces of buldings, trees, foliage, etc ,ets.

I have several excuses
I forget what I have and buy more when they are really cheap on Evil-Bay
I also find useful figures but there is only one or 2 in a pack, so double, triple, quadruple up, ready to convert them,
When I retire, in 11 years
Keep at Karl, there is always another waiting to be bought/built

What part is broken ? Some airbrush manufacturers have a spare part service so most broken pieces can be replaced ...

I definitely only count "objects" so a planned model can consist of a base kit plus a conversion plus another donor kit.
Example: T-34 base + Accurate Armour conversion + some soviet anti-tank gun = Syrian SP-gun variant.
Sd.Kfz 9 (??) + conversion set + 88 mm Flak

Truck and trailer will also be counted as one even if they come in two boxes.

Hi all, it's really hard to resist not to accumulate dissent size stash now days with so many temptations around, (I'm talking about so called "Golden age of Modelling") nothing agains it, everything you dreamed of is coming into plastic and you in an hurry to get them, and it's not just that, lots of AM kits to improve or convert anything you have to something very unique also available to an easy reach, so at the end you end up with Stash camulated beyond your life expectancy, LOL

In my teens I've built all the aircraft kits I bought from lunch money I saved. Then I thought of moving into figures, built a couple out of the thirty or so figure kits I bought. When I got back to the hobby about ten years back, I decided to do armor and one of the first books I bought was P. Chamberlain's encyclopedia on German AFVs -- in my mind I had to get all of what was in that book, and that led to a stash SWMBO says could fill up a small hobby shop. I've lost count, and still buying

****heart palpitates***...the local thrift store just got about 150 sealed kits in 70% below retail.....it goes to charity so I am justified in buying a bunch, right!?

And same quantity I would like to buy, but I will not do it, because of space !
