Thx for the kind words Colin. I am waiting for the nuts and bolts now. as I already got 580 holes predrilled, so it will take some time... Still some missing, but I might just nor predrill them as they are hidden inside the frame.

I am actually not, which is why a flying baseball had smashed the tender previously and in the aftermath had to be repaired. This "kit" is a good practice for patience however😂.

Stef - First time thru the pgs of this impressive build, and can only admire your dedication and determination. Not a loco guy, (well maybe back in the day
) but your detailed descriptions, info, and progress are much appreciated!
Makes one want to read up a bit on the "Age of Steam".
Beautiful use of mixed media, and the "if it ain't right, redo it!" approach is admired as well. Not your everyday subject matter either.
Looking frwd to how you advance the painting stage and the start of the diorama!

I got some parts done but ordered way too few bolts and screws, so need to wait for new shipments and my little nephew takes a lot of my spare time into his possession ^^.
Trying to get the reviews finished, then back to the train.

While the train is waiting, the G10 is falling together. The IRONSIDE kit is quite bad, despite apparently being a new remake of the old one... after some layers of paint it looks ok, however I guess. It will be good for the background and just as some stuff for the rear of the dio and it is also good to try my 2 new airbrushes and colours.
Panzergrey primer and some lighter grey. Later I sprayed white on the larger surfaces, but I had not taken a picture, however. Not sure if it passes the the critical viewers' standards.
The first 2 layers of Rotbraun:
I will mask the red parts once painting the final layer onto the frame and roof.

Great work – I’ve never seen a built-up Ironside (resin?) kit before, all I remember is they were very expensive kits (in Oz anyway) years ago. Lots of dirt & grime to come? Nice workbench, now I see that essential modeller’s tool – the Mauser rifle. So that’s how you made those holes in the BR52 chassis

No, as gun laws are super strict here and I do not own a license to be allowed to own a gun, the barrel is filled with stuff, so it is demilitarized 😭😭😭. Would be fun though punching holes with the Mauser. I shot a friend's Mauser in Canada, while we were hunting beavers and deer, quite a 💥 bang.
The G10 is no resin btw. It was fairly priced I thought, but considering its abysmal quality, it is massively overpriced. I am eagerly waiting for the Thunder Models G10! (Sadly LZ Models only got it in resin... and I am no resin fan) but luckily Libor supplied all his info to TM! I hope he gets a cut of TM's earnings!

I noticed in your build photos you are representing the braking system on your BR-52. I am currently working on building one and do not have access to any BR's here in america. If you still have any photos detailing the braking or any underside details and are willing to share, I would be extremely greatful for the assistance.

Steam was often pumped through pipes in the tender. Yes it kept water from freezing but on oil fired locomotives it made the fuel oil flow much better.

The driver main crank on one side of the locomotive has to be 90 degrees out of sync (one quarter turn) relative to the drivers on the other side, hense the name "quartering".

Nuts, bolts and rivets have arrived
Should be around 26 packages of them and more than 2.5k of them^^.
Time to get them sorted and added to the various frame parts.
My board game is receiving its finishing touches along the way...

I would also refer you to a page in the Commander Models online catalog where they have now completed all the patterns and molds for the WWII US built USATC S-160 locomotive that they will be offering. (Not my work) The model only awaits the completion of the instruction booklet to be ready for sale.

Have always stayed away from this kit because I knew there would just be too many extra details I would want/need to add but you Sir have taken the "Bull by the Horns" and jumped right in!

Posting a public link avoids any risk of violating anyone's copyright. You are simply connecting the viewer to another public website that shows someone else's original work - you are not copying it for your own use or monetary gain.

An evoluion of the cabin floor panels... the Kit ones via MK1 (a mix of plate and bar frame stuff) version to the final correct one... and the wooden floor planks.
The same with the lateral frame support... Can't show the kit ones, as they are in the trash can in bits and pieces... The Mk1 version as fixed into the frame were bar frame parts added to a plate frame... The new ones are the original plate frame designs for any locomotive produced after the first 300 or so as the first BR52's had a different setup due to a different mounting of the Knorr Compressor (fixed to lateral frame supports (as with the BR50) and not to the boiler)

Michael, I don't link to my other blog (as to what Carl referred where I helped him out) on other sites, that is what I meant with it. I am fine with linking, but not my own stuff ;-).
