What's even funnier is that some people think those outside the US actually care . . . . . .

Yeah, and it will snow here tomorrow after today's temperature of about 35C (that's about 94F for you non-metric lot)

It was 45 in Penrith on Saturday so not good modelling weather. Given we are finally getting a Scammel in 35th from at least two manufacturers I am confident you will see a new BP in the near future, after all - German Sells at a rate of 10-1 according to certain cognoscenti!
Don't give up hope
Al

G'day Al

I don't envy you, trust me. At least the humidity is still up, meaning we aren't in any danger of bushfires any time soon, and this afternoon there is a beautiful big thunderstorm on the weather radar, heading our way!

I hope your confidence in relation to the possible creation of a new Bergepanther is not misplaced - time will tell.

Regards

Rob

Try living in New Jersey, it was 64 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees C. or 291 degrees Kelvin) one day and the next day there were nine inches of snow. (22.86 cm)

No thanks Steve, I already live in the best country in the world and have no desire to leave it (at least not permanently).

I have actually started one, but the enthusiasm needs to return.

Yes, I know, it will keep you busy for quit some time.
So you need to find a way to keep your entousiasm.
Working on different parts of the model helps a bit.
And occasionaly do another (smaller) model in between.

I'm hoping Takom might come along or even Rye field the latter being my bet.

Given the recent KT craze of new kits I'm thinking it's only a matter of time until the Panther gets the same treatment and hopefully out of the race we get a
Panther.

But I'm only guessing and following trends of manufacturers lately.

Cheers Ben.

We kind of did have a Panther craze with everyone doing a Panther D. Italeri, Dragon, ICM, Zvezda and Tamiya all have the drum cupola "D" version. But I know what you mean. A slew of "A" and "G" would be nice. Funny how every single variety of Tiger gets done but Panthers get ignored.

Hey, Steve, if you start a group build for, say, Panther G, I for one will be in like a shot, and no doubt many others as well.

This is what I think about the main contenders:
  • Takom, with the recent Konigstiger with interior they have shown they can go for big challenges, and it would be the kind of model they like to launch.
  • Thunder Model, they are newcomers but the Bergehetzer is almost ready, and their BT80 for the end of summer means they can go big as well. Would be a hit.
  • Rye Field Model, another one who likes big and notorious projects...
  • Meng, like Takom they could go for it as it would be a great addition to their catalogue
  • ICM, already has a Bergepanther, would just need to add the interior and superstructure
  • Miniart, with all their interior kits it would be within their scope, however they see to be focused on Soviet armour.
  • Trumpeter, working on a 1/16 Panther they could downscale the chassis but I would not hold my breath...
  • Dragon, if they have not done it before I see no reason they would do now.
  • Bronco, Doubtful.
  • AFV Club, Unlikely
  • Italeri, who could upgrade the only one in the market, but I doubt they will
  • Tamiya in a parallel universe...
What do you think?

As I was writing in another Bergepanther thread, I think Miniart may be most capable.

All of Miniart's U.S. WWII bulldozers are full of over-engineered small plastic parts. Makes me think that the company is fully capable of producing all the intricate details of Bergepanther and may be up for the challenge.

Maybe it's just a matter of time? I sure hope so.

G'day James

I would agree except for the fact that Miniart have yet to do a Panther. However, having seen a number of collaborations between major firms in the past, it would be interesting to see, for example, a DML Panther G Bergepanther with an interior by Miniart or some other brave firm.

Having started my own Bergepanther G on a Panther G hull, I can assure you that the amount of work involved is not astronomical. There was some scratchbuilding, but the majority of the driver's compartment came from CMK.
