The following trucks - mostly Chevrolet G-7107s - were converted deliberately to be used as APCs of the newly formed IDF during the later stages of the Independence War.

An interim solution - until the above mentioned fully armored truck conversions could be supplied in significant numbers - was to add some armor to the vital parts of the existing IDF truck fleet.

In order to increase their operational value - especially in offensive role - many already obsolete APCs (Scout Cars, Otters, C15ATs and even some Dodge WC51/52s) received additional, turret mounted armament.

I dedicate the 1000th - rather artistic - upload to the tank I've served both my regular and reserve duty on, the Merkava Mk.II.

Check out pictures 421 through 431 on page 4. I was surprised too as I had no idea it saw (very limited) service in the IDF (AFAIK not more than three tanks). All were captured Egyptian vehicles.

That's a LOT of scrap iron to send into the recycling system ...
Somewhere there is an image similar to # 1012 which shows how an anti-tank round, I presume an Israeli APFS-DS, has forced its way into the side of a gun barrel, entering the barrel and finally exiting through the breech into the turret.
If it is already posted in this thread, please tell me the number.
