Whats everyone's favorite on line store ? I use sprue brothers and squadron alot but im getting disappointed

Hobbyeasy and Luckymodel are my most frequently used web shops.

I like Scalehobbyist. Prices are generally lower than the two you mentioned (which I also use), and has a fairly good selection of manufacturers and products, military and civilian, most time periods.

Can you tell us why you're disappointed in them? I've been disenchanted with Squadron for a while now, but not with Sprue Brothers, but I'm curious. I prefer my LHS over everybody, for several reasons-- my LHS owner keeps abreast of the Hobby industry, and tells me of the ups and downs of various manufacturers. He also makes buying trips to various distributors throughout the year. I can always count on him to make something right, or hold an order in advance. I'm disillusioned in general with on line ordering everywhere except Sprue Brothers which seems to have pretty good response and Customer service. So I'd like to know why you feel the way you do.

BNA, or A-Modeler on ebay, is very good.

My LHS is my go to though after mark up and such, online is cheaper.

Been a Sprue Bros customer for years now and will hit Squadron every now and again for special sales, etc. Of late have also been ordering from Scale Hobbyist.

Scalehobyist is quickly becoming my go to online retailer. Ill usually use them and MegaHobby for my modelling needs.

Sprue Brothers has a superb site. I am a dedicated user. I really like HLJ another great and responsive group. Lucky Models is not what it use to be. You order, they charge and then you wait and wait.....I have two orders pending one since May. Time to give them a big break.

HLJ has never disappointed me. Great prices on Asian manufacturers.

Squadron has had a lot of great sales lately. I got the Hobby Boss (former Tri Star) Early Brummbaer for $19.00 and some other goodies for way below MSRP. I have always had good luck with both HLJ and Squadron.

I have also used Hobby Easy and Scalehobbyist with good results.

Been around the block a few times and ScaleHobbyist (no affiliation) is by far my No. 1 go-to online store. Their website is a breaze to navigate, and descriptions, images, and prices are clear. They have a very large inventory, and shipping is reasonable ... and did I mention, availability is “honest” and clearly noted (subtle hint). On top of it all, their search engine is among the best I’ve ever used.

Of course, no single store can stock every doggone aftermarket item known to modeler, and that’s when I rely on “some” (subtle hint) of the stores mentioned in above replies.

As far as my LHS — well, mine is not at all “local,” it’s far away, pricy, and in addition, not very helpful. Due to my pin location on the big ball, I’ve learned to shop very effectively, and I do so online. That’s my 2 cents + many $$$ US well spent.

Whatever store, method, currency, missile delivery system you choose, remember to build what you buy (hint to self) and have fun doing it!

I have grown to like lots-of-models.com because they're super fast in shipping - usually free if using their eBay store (competitive $$$ too) lots of sales -eBay store and website, great customer service and did I say FAST! I have used Sprue and Squadron but also come to dislike them b/c of pricing and shipping costs! Second choice is freetimehobbies.com - especially when they have a REAL FLASH SALE - not like Squadron's.

Me too, but in some cases the source is another company that sells through Amazon's website (and offers free shipping). Alas, they turn out to be on the other side of the planet and their free shipping offer means the item was sent by surface mail, i.e. mule train and sailing ship--but there was zero warning of that on Amazon's web site. I've had a couple of orders that took as much as two months to arrive because of surface shipping. So now if in doubt I do some homework and find out where the shipment originates before I place an order.

This is a most useful thread, I've added several very interesting supplier websites to my favorites list. Thanks to everyone who posted links to their favorite dealers.

Things that will keep me from ordering from a particular dealer:

--consistently higher prices than other sources

--no choices on shipping, i.e. everything goes out Priority Mail or Second Day Air and thus ordering a couple of small items means the shipping costs more than the items

--credit card is charged long before they are ready to ship

--whether or not an item is really in stock is uncertain

Good selection, fast and efficient, lower prices than any local hobby shop in my vicinity. They also keep good order so if they say it is in stock it will ship quickly. If it is out of stock it will take time but newer any incorrect information. If they can't restock they let you know a.s.a.p.

Not a webstore in the traditional sense but the Ebay store of LotsofModels is one of my most frequented stopping points. Great prices and free shipping with a massive selection avaliable. Shipping is always very quick as well.
