Not interested i want a M88A2 Hercules

As I replied to you in Varanusk's thread: If you are not interested in a subject why are you clicking a link to it?

This is a purposeful move intended solely to attempt to spoil the good news of others; in essence, you are a troll.

The energy you waste being a turd could be better spent starting threads to generate enthusiasm for your dream machine, and in writing your favorite companies to inquire as to whether they have plans or might consider producing what you desire. I saw a lot of people begging for a new bergepanther; you're the only guy I've seen asking for an M88A2. Probably because as a guy who prefers Panthers I tend to ignore such links. I certainly don't click them and post crap about how tanks are stupid and what they really need to make is a Tupolev Tu-2 in 1/32 (they should). That would be being a jerk.

Instead of typing up some 500 word diatribe about him being a troll, I'd just ignore him, the kit manufacturers obviously are.

and whats wrong with not wanting another boring piece of german armor If you buiilt as much German armor as I did you would loose interest in german armor too

I've been modeling a long time but I'm relatively new to Armor. One thing I have noticed is that, especially with armor, if a particular subject hasn't been done or it needs to be redone like the Bergepanther, just wait a bit and somebody will do it. The argument of "why do we need another one" is not new. I have an old Replica in Scale magazine from the early 80's that has a review on the then new Bandai Mercedes 6 wheel staff car. After reviewing the kit the author went on a rant about how manufactures alway go with German subjects while ignoring others. All i have to say is; these are great days to be a modeler with all the new stuff being released. Three years ago when I built the Hobbyboss M1070/M1000 I thought it would be nice to have a M911/M747 and now Meng will soon release one. Well, back to my SMERCH. Happy Modeling.

What IS boring are your trolling posts. If you don't like "boring" axis stuff go back to your "exciting" Olive Drab forums.

Not related at all, but some people asked about an "A" panther : Hobby Boss has announced a late A. Certainly good times for axis modellers!

You do know that the Meng Late A is already available along with four variant sets of zimmerit decals?

It's nice when an announcement is plastic within such a reasonable time. And very nicely priced.

Are you familiar with Chamberlain and Doyle's The Encyclopedia of German Armor of WWII?

I am about 60 vehicles shy of having an example in 1/35 of everything in that book and my goal is to build every one of them as they become available, so just because you are suffering from ennui does not give you the right to poo-poo other people's continued interest unless you are able to honestly own and accept your trollishness. The depth of your responses on this forum suggest that you are probably still in your teens and not experienced enough in how to deal with adults and so my hope remains you will improve over time: if I am wrong about your suspected age bracket then I am saddened by the implications.

At any rate, the bottom line is that just because you don't care about something others do, don't expect to be met with enthusiasm when you feel compelled to be a butt about it. You don't have a right to it, and the admins requested people refrain from it. There is nothing wrong with not wanting more German armor FOR YOURSELF. What is wrong is the way you choose to express that dislike.

Yep I was aware of that, I thought I would mention HB as it is a brand new "announcement" as far as I know. Definitely a good time for panzers at any rate!

Dale Hines:

HEY! It was only taken out of production for a little while. I still have the molds. In fact, I JUST made a new set of molds for a limited re-release of 20 kits (only 14 left now). O:-)

That said, however, these WILL be the last conversions I make -- for obvious reasons :-)

Does anyone have the production numbers for the A version vs the G version? I would venture a guess that this company probably has a G version in the works.

Regardless this is wonderful news to WW II German armor fans!

Thank you Takom!

I believe a little over 3100 G's were made out of about 6000 panthers produced overall. The D was about 850 and the remainder A's of course.

Thanks for that! I did not state clearly that I was seeking Bergpanther production figures for the A and G chassis. Trying to get a gauge on how common or rare a beast it wasl

The first dozen were turretless D hulls from MAN. Henschel undertook production around July 43, building 70 until November, at which point Demag took over. Henschel models had the winch, spade and derrick on the D. The Demags built from February to September 44 were A's with the letter-box MG port. The 2cm KwK38 mount was removed and the spade extended.

Roughly 232 Ausf A version were produced from June 43 to September 44 plus 8 that were apparently converted from rebuilt vehicles in August 44.

About 107 G were produced by Demag from September 44 to March 45.

This would be a roughly 10-1 ratio of tanks to recovery vehicles for the D and A models, and a 30-1 for the G version, as my assumption is they had more surviving bergepanthers since they didn't actively engage in combat, so still had sufficient supply to service the turreted Panthers.

This is all according to Chamberlain and Doyle.

Do we know how many of these different variants had Zimmerit applied.

Will the Takom kit require it or not?

Sources differ on this. The best guess is between 76 and 126 bergepanthers were built on G hulls. Most were built on the D (late A) hull -- half or them from old gun tanks sent back for re-build.

Also, not sure if this will matter, but the late Thomas Jentz said there was never a bergepanther D. The Germans saw the bergepanther as a different vehicle from the gun tanks and treated them accordingly. So you have a bergepanther A built on D tank hulls (what we think of as the early A hull was actually a D hull), and the bergepanther G built on a G tank hull.

Hope this helps.

Because of the way the bergepanthers were made, the version Takom has announced can be built with or without zimm and it will still be equally correct.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid ennui as well, need to loose about 60 pounds or so. Hard to get into the chair in the hobby room due to the stash and the ennui getting in the way
