Can anyone point me in the right direction for a good technique for anti slip on the LAV’s? I’ve seen the Gesso trick but just curious of others.

An easy tried and true technique is Rustoleum Fine Textured Spray. Common colours are grey and terracotta.

If you take the time to properly mask off the areas the textured spray looks very realistic.

There are several grades of texture as well....stick with the fine texture as you can always spray on another light coat if you want more representation.

Check Loews, Home Depot, and Rona and you’ll find it.

Thank you very much for that lesson, very straightforward. Just returned from the local hardware store with no luck but will try the Home Depot later this week.
My fighting LAV just arrived in the mail so I am eager to get the anti slip process sorted out.

The terra cotta paint is like that one bottle of Future we all still have. You only need a little bit so one can should last a loooooooong time. It didn't take too long for me to figure out that I could use white Elmer's glue on stuff like bolt heads. I wouldn't want to get it near any seams though. It might be a bear to get out completely.

Hmm, sounds interesting. The lower rate of fire could be a problem though. The current M119A1 105mm howitzers and 120mm mortars don't take very long at all to set up, so I am not really sure this gives that much advantage.
