Hi guys,
just an idea; how about a Sheperd Paine commemorative campaign?
August 1st is the day he died 4 years ago and to me the man was THE inspirational figure that got and kept me going in this hobby.
It would start of course on august 1st, which may be a bit of a short notice and maybe run for 6 months? Longer?
In order to honour him tules would be; kits older than 25 years, no aftermarket, PE, resin, turned barrels etc allowed.
Just the kit, your imagination and whatever you can scrounge "around the house" in order to upgrade the kit.
Old school, basic and creative.
What do you folks say? Is it something?

Sounds like a great idea. I am in. It is a bit short notice for some, as a lot of people have signed up to other builds. Have you thought about running the campaign say 1 Dec 2019 to 1 Aug 2020, being a finish on his 5th anniversary?
Builds are usually 6 month time frames, but maybe the moderators would even allow a full 12 months here noting the relevance - i.e. 01 Aug 2019 to 01 Aug 2020.

Yeah, I'll have to go through some of my older kits. I might have something that would qualify.

I'd be up for this. I love Italeri's 1978 vintage M47, and would probably build that. Count me in.
cheers

Pretty much what I do anyway.
I'd be interested. Got a few old Tamiya and Italeri kits that would qualify.

That might be a good idea.
Doing a year long campaign runs a large risk of fizzling out way before the end date. But the dates you suggested sound better. Maybe even lift the stardate over the christmasfestvities.

That's 7 (8 if Rod is in) in just 24 hours. I think you are on a winner only 3 (2?) to go for an official quorum quota.

You make it sound as if that is quite a score?
Has Armorama quieted down that much over the years I went MIA?

That is a cool idea for a campaign.

I would be all for entering this one. I grew up seeing his work on the sides of the Monogram boxes and in the diorama tip sheets that came with the kits and was always in awe. He has always been a motivator for me with this hobby.
If this campaign is a go I would like to do a straight from the box build of the re-issued Monogram 1/32 "Screamin' Mimi".
Thanks,
Randy

Count me in if the monogram reissues are acceptable. I've got a couple in the stash.

And there's our nr.10!
Made a separate rule dealing with re-issues. They're ok as long as the original parts are used. No add-on's like PE or something.

What about extras such as stowage? Would a couple of jerrycans for example have to be from a similar vintage set?

Blast... I should've copied the rules and posted them here, before sending in the request.
Anyway...
You can use whatever you like, just as long as it is 25 years or older. However... no resin aftermarket- or PE-sets, no turned barrels or metal tracks, no commercially made washes or pigments etc. You get the picture. Just plastic kits, plastic card and whatever you can find around the kitchen, house, barn.. whatever.
Re-issues are ok too as long as you do not use the extra parts. Just the ones that came with the original.

Ribbon has to be a .gif file sized 50 x 20 pixels and must be under 1.5 kb in memory size to be able to be used. This one comes in at 1.65kb so you may need to adjust it. Black uses a lot of memory.

The banner size has to be 648 pixels by 60 pixels to present properly. Using your base design it should look like this:

Hope this helps you. Cheers
PS if you want to use the banner, just use 'reply and quote' to bring up my text and copy the url between the image tags.

I'm in - just got to choose a Monogram oldie to build! I predict a lot of classic "frosted" dry-brushing to come...
