The instructions have you start with the Turret, but I prefer to start with the Hull.
It's made up of separate flat molded pieces Verry detailed.
Make shure it's all squared or you'll have trouble.
They have this photo etch part on the Tow Hook I've never seen this on a sherman before, is it correct?

I have the Tamiya kit but I am interested in the RFM kit as a replacement if it is noticeably better. looking forward to your build.

RFM's kit will be a lot more complex than Tamiya, so not that much of a point doing a direct comparison.

That makes sense. Page 191 of Son of Sherman has the best view of the bracket. If the bracket was spring loaded, it could be turned out and the pin run through the hole in the pintle handle, securing it horizontal. Page 220 has a rear view of an HVSS tank that probably shows the pintle secured this way, but it is a little fuzzy.

No Sherman expert here but for reasons long forgotten I had researched this long ago .
To the best of my findings [ Kurt's right ] that latch/keeper/lever was used to lock the removable hook on the welded on bracket and also allowed the hook to not free spin and be be positioned at any angle on the clock .

The Instructions have the numbers on the end covers of the Drive unit reversed. The parts go as shown with the 3 holes on top.

A little more completed today.
Here are the 3 different ones they give you in the kit.
There's a little flash that needs to be cleaned off them.
A fancy one.
According to the Son of Sherman book this one was a little uncommon as the step in it was deleated for cost cutting savings.

The units don't articulate like the real ones, I'll just glue them in place when finished. These are a lot like the Taska kit units.

That's because those three bolts also held the fender in place. If you show the tank without the fenders you'll need bolts there, and maybe bent sheet metal.
