Looks nice. Maybe now we'll get a bridge layer in plastic someday.
I'd be tempted to take a pin vise to that engine deck and open up the intake holes.

I would not drill from the top!
I would take a sandpaper and grind away from the inside until the holes open up. The risk of damaging the pattern with a drill is too big. The thickness, or height, of the material between the holes would also be overscale.
On the other hand, fill in the holes with black and the difference once the PE-net has been added will be difficult to notice.
I will sand through from below .....

This would be my preference, too. Otherwise you need to go back and clean out the corners or be left with a lot of round holes in an oval shaped grill.

I just got started today.
Working on the Lower Hull, there could be a problem if you install the Shocks and Swing Arms as instructed.
I found that it is better working one unit at a time to install the Swing Arm first then add the appropriate Shock. Just don't mix them up as they are handed and the third from the front takes one that is a little shorter.
Be shure the Swing Arms are all the way in or you could have problems lining up the Road Wheels.

The little arrows on the right side need to be trimmed off.

Here are the mounts for the front Dozer Blade ?
You should enlarge the holes slightly just to get a friction fit.
That way the Blade will stay where you put it.

The Blade Mounts should sit flush with the Lower Hull Edge.
If it doesn't the upper Hull will not fit.

Here is an Important Notice
You should be Extra Careful on installing the Arms for the Dozer Blade . If you install them Upside Down the Blade will not fit without Some Modifications.
I didn't notice this until assembling the Dozer Blade.
If you get them in upside down , instead of tearing everything appart you can reverse the mounts on the Blade.

Just a thought, I know that too some of you my building may be a little, (Hey Ok a Lot) unconventional but I do it this way to make it easier for me. I'm not telling you all to do it this way, just giving you another option.
Any way I'll be closing up the Hull prior to installing all the small bits.
Today I installed the Masked Periscopes & the Bow Mg.
I trimmed the End Edges of the openings, it's very tight otherwise .
I painted the tops of the Periscopes Chrome Silver to improve the reflectivity through the glass.

Now for the Bow Mg.
They give you 2 to choose from.
I glued the outside to the Hull first, then inserted the Ball with choice of Gun Barrel .
You should trim off 2 spots on the retaining ring (look close and you will see them). I made marks on the ring and hull to help line up the ring.
