Hi -Is the Tamiya Stug III G Finnish version suitable as a base model for an Stug used at Arnhem. I know Dragon have a more suitable model but Im far happier with Tamiya as my modelling skills are very basic.

I don't think the Tamiya Finnish version has Zimmerit on it. If not, this will be a problem, as the Stugs from Stug Brigade 280 all had the characteristic "Waffle" pattern Zimmerit. It's very noticeable and not easy to reproduce. The Dragon one would be a better fit despite its complexity.

Cheers. I know the dragon kit is the most accurate but wondered if the Tamiya kit would be okay. Actually Id be happy to use any of the 3 Tamiya Stug III G kits but want to know which is closest to type used at Arnhem. Ive tried researching it online and have plenty of pics of the Stugs in use but just dont know which Tamiya kit is the best starting point to work from.

The Tamiya 1/35th Stug is an earlier version and lacks some of the details common by the time of the Arnhem battle. All the Stug's in Arnhem belonged to the same unit and were late summer to early fall construction, zimmerit, sows head mantlet etc. However, if you want to do a Stug in the Bridge to Far theme, and not limited to Arnhem, any of the Tamiya kits could be used.
