Andy,
The tank looks pretty good to my untrained eyes, specially the texture on the turret.
Only the snow looks more like powered sugar than snow. It looks too.... accidental. Maybe when it is placed in a diorama it will be better........

Nice work! An overhead view should be interesting. Also, the powder doesn't look real to me. Looks more like it has been sprayed. Try adding some on the top and sides of the upperhull.

Thanks for the reply guys,
I didn't want to get a lot of snow over the upper hull, I may try to get some up the sides a bit more.

To me, on the middle of the side of the hull it looks a little too smooth and plastic-like, even after you weathered it

Andy-
Great job on the Jumbo - the weathering is very nicely done :-)
One thing that might help with your snow look.... I would go back over the whole lower chassis and running gear (tracks included) with some white pastels. This will tie in the globs of snow you have applied with the rest of the vehicle. Just use a make-up (face paint :-) ) brush and dust on the white pastel. That should help to tie it all together.
Again... super job! I hope my Jumbo turns out as well as yours has.
Later-
Jeff

What exactly did you do with the headlights and horn on the front hull? I see you put a wood planks over the front but looks like everything underneath was removed

hi Shermie..There are no lights and horn on the Jumbo...Just the lifting hooks and the opening for the .30 cal.. Andy I would try and clean up those stars a bit they look a little too home made for US stars...These were usually painted on using templates and not done by hand ..You can have some overspray but the stars should be more uniform.

Geez I never even noticed the Jumbo was bare! Cranked out so many of them but never a Jumbo.

I know what you mean Shermie....So many variants it is hard to keep em all straight in our heads...I started this kit but there is so much to do to get a good Jumbo that I put it aside in the never to be finished pile.... Oh well maybe I'll splurge for the Blast kit one day...

I really like the Jumbo you have here. I would tend to agree that the snow effect could be a little more uniform in the suspension an track. When snow adheres to a tanks hull and suspension it usually gets packed into all of the crevices equally. I think if you just work on that aspect it will really complete the realism. I give a lot of credit to people who do the snow scene stuff. I think it's probably one of the most difficult things to pull off.

Bear,
Well my secrets out hehe...........This was my first time using dry transfers and i had at least one botch on all the stars so decided i might as well just paint over it and try to make it look like the stars hhad faded or got damaged and the crew had reapinted them quickly with some white paint.

Hey Andy ..what you could do and it would make more sense would be to repaint them in a different shade of OD as many crews just painted out those great big aiming points..that could be very plausible and wouldn't have to be neat....

These are the models you have been seeing lately that I am detailing. The Sherman to the left has the hull stars blacked out. It is an effective variation. It get's a lot of questions from my non-model/military friends. Then you get the opportunity to tell them stories of all your models!!
