As most of you hopefully know by now the current forums will be closing down and the new forum is up and running so please consider starting new threads in the new forums.
The content of the old forums will be archived but those arcives will be read-only (no replying et.c).

Hi Robin,

I'm excited about the transition. But.... I just tried to post pictures in the new forum, snow white build, and found I couldn't even though I was logged in (to the old site?). Do I need to setup a new account for the new site? Or am I missing something?

Cheers

Matthew

The old and the new forums are separate when it comes to user-id and log-ins so you will need to create a new account.
The account creation process includes activation e-mails sent to the e-mail address you enter. Sometimes these e-mails go missing. I monitor new accounts and do a "management" activation if it seems that the process has gotten stuck

Must say, the new site is easy to set up an account for, and looks so much better on a smart phone. The ease of uploading photos is a real bonus. Saves loads of time and faff. Well done Armorama!

Does the new forum now somehow allow us to re-edit our own thread titles or do we still have to go to an Admin to get that done?

https://blog.discourse.org/2018/06/understanding-discourse-trust-levels/

Users at trust level 2 can…

Use the “Invite others to this topic” button for one-click onboarding of new users to participate in topics
Invite outside users to PMs making a group PM
Daily like limit increased by 1.5×
Ignore other users
Edit their own posts for up to 30 days after posting

Users at trust level 3 can…

Recategorize and rename topics
Access a secure category only visible to users at trust level 3 and higher
Have all their links followed (we remove automatic nofollow)
TL3 spam flags cast on TL0 user posts immediately hide the post
TL3 flags cast on TL0 user posts in sufficient diversity will auto-silence the user and hide all their posts
Make their own posts wiki (that is, editable by any TL1+ users)
Daily like limit increased by 2×

Trust level 3 has the name 'Regular'
and you would reach that level quickly.
Regulars are those who visit regularly, read posts by others regularly, does everything regularly and are thus entrusted with house keeping and cleaning chores.
Before trust level 3 just give an admin a mention by using @ + call sign or send a message.

Boy that all sounds like just so much fun! Trust levels????

But thank you Robin for taking the time to write all that out. (Seriously!)

Should I mention that some people should perhaps be given automatic advanced "trust levels" but that would take a lot of manual work and assessment.
