A) Apologies to all, as know doubt I have missed it, but how do I find archived blogs?
B) Am I at least able to find all my own previous / half finished literally blogs, by searching under my own user name, as some of them are like 9yrs old?
C) Also if I am able to do the above, am I then able to link any other blogs I have on other kitmaker sites to my user name?

Do you mean now? Or once the sites have been archived? We have no archived blogs now so I assume you mean once the archive is created. They will be accessible in the same way they are now. By browsing threads, search via Google, or listed in various places on the site like user created topics, etc.

Jim, yes I did mean now, which obviously isn’t up yet, but also for ease of mind & finding, for instance I just tried finding an old blog of mine in shipwrights & I can click on it, but nothing comes up??
Also it has been so long since I posted in some of them I can’t remember the title, hence me asking if I typed in my user name, could I get them all Brought up so I can look at them again?

Here is what I consider to be at least a reasonable request:
If you are going to archive the huge amount of past forum posts can you at least also include (at low, 72dpi screen resolution) the photo images as well?
That way I don't have to keep paying Photobucket their $12.99 a month to support all the multitude of stored images that I have which are currently linked to what will be your future Armorama archive.

That is the plan (as that is how the Model Shipwrights archive was done), however I have no idea how large an archive that would be for Armorama, so if it's 20-30GB that's one thing. If it's 200GB that's a different kettle of fish. I will have to see when it gets down to doing it of course.

Perhaps some will think this unfair but . . .
I would suggest you prioritize the archival work sorting the threads by either their total hit numbers and/or life span so that the most popular, larger threads get saved first and the smaller, shorter lived topics and quick questions only if room allows.
Please don't misunderstand, I consider preserving the ENTIRE database as the number one priority. However early on I realized the sheer size of that database might have the organization crying "uncle" in short order.
In the future it will probably become a monthly topic for discussion at budget meetings as to "why do we keep paying for this data storage when fewer people access it each month"?
Of course fewer people will access it each month because they will be members new to Armorama and the archive data will no longer be "main stream." These will be folks who don't even know the archive exists, or where to find it, or how to use it.
Which begs another fair question: Will the archive be searchable or will it be just a static file format that folks will have to page through to see if something interests them???
If the archive is not to be searchable then it will simply be inaccessible information! Might as well put it all on microfilm (anybody remember microfilm?) and lock it away in a library basement somewhere.

The basic economic costs should be calculated on basis of what a cloud provider (e.g. Azure) offers for making a static site accessible on the web, not only on the price of a limited part of the hardware required.
The "old" forum contains a treasure of information, but it is not structured and that treasure is hidden in heaps of casual conversation.
That casual conversation is not important anymore unless one feels that a "wow, this looks amazing" comment of 5 years ago is still highly relevant?
The best thing to do with the treasure is to upgrade it and translate those fantastic forum posts on e.g. "Operation Gothic Serpent" into features.
It would allow gradually cleaning/reducing the static archive and actualize content on the new platform.
If I remember well, we used to have something on the site called "digital diamonds" explaining basic modelling techniques. Have these things gone?

Just back for a quickie:
Just encountered a newbie on the "Art of Modeling" Fb blog site. He had a lot of questions regarding the up armored cab on the HEMTT. I linked him and his other followers to one of my HEMTT threads on what will soon be the archived data.
Also suggested he search "HEMTT" on the Armorama database as I know there to be A LOT of other related data available there. (Thanks Gino!)
So I will now point out that the existing format data is a great recruitment tool to gather in new members to the Armorama website.
(Yeah, we told them the same thing about the old Patton Museum at Ft. Knox - great Army recruitment tool; very popular and located close to a major population center. But they shut that down anyway, spent millions $$$ to relocate it and now it's behind closed doors, out of sight at Benning.)
Sorry if this sounds rude but please insert "HERE" an appropriate derogatory comment that might represent my opinion of the intelligence of both the government's move AND of yours!

Lol... sorry I find comments like this a bit funny. Of course it will be searchable. By the best search available to anyone on the planet. Google.
We haven't had internal searching of the forums or the site for like a decade now. And the old search ability was pretty awful. While the new forum has a pretty good internal search the new content sites don't really. It takes experts in search algorithms to write good search engines. So that is no going to happen with a flat HTML archive site. It's flat HTML. You can dynamic search on a non-dynamic site. That pretty much requires a database.

As to the paragraph that follows I honestly doubt even a programmer would have understood what you were driving at. Maybe, but I doubt it!
Jim you are being foolishly condescending but then again I am being decidedly hostile so maybe that makes us even.
You told me at the outset that I didn't know what I was talking about so excuse me if I ask questions in order to ascertain just what the data archive is and is not capable of.
