I have some work left on this, but it includes the scratchbuilt locomotive and a scratchbuilt crane, plus vehicles, tank and figures from several sets,, on a cobblestone base provided by Kancali (thank you Chris!) When it is complete, I will have some more closeups. Hope you enjoy it

Looking good Robert. One thing I have noticed is that the bricks seem to be falling off the brick building and they are also quite uneven toward the top of the wall. Is this how you intended them to be or is this something you will correct?

wow, VERY nice booshamer. GREAT scratch builds. very cool scene. only thing i wonder about is the train tracks look to be the trolley/metro kind that go all over the city. would a large armored train carrying tanks travel on these? trains are defintely not my strong point, so i might be totally wrong about this. either way, really wonderful job!

Awsome, it is great so far everything looks increditable and it's coming along nicely. I didn't know what kind of dio it was going to be when I first saw you building the Locomotive.

I wish I could scap build something like that it just adds alot to a dio it's something that is rare to see in 1/35 scale.

I can not wait to see it finished.

Happy Modeling

Excellent Robert. I loved the loco, but now Im a fan of the crane. Have you drawings of this or where did you get the inspiration. Its so unique, it stands out. The whole scene will be amazing when finished. I like those wooden palettes I see hiding in there also. The kancali roads fit in perfectly. I could live with the tram/rail differences if not possible.
The one nit-pick is the building as mentioned earlier. Normally, I would try to be gentle but the only way to say it is ... it lets the rest of the dio down. I would seriously look into replacing or try to improve on it. Its not that its bad, but is weaker than everything else in the dio. Hope you understand I mean this constructively.

Marty and plastic,
thanks. I was a bit impatient putting all those individual bricks on the wall, and it didn't look nearly as bad as it does in the photo. I will definitely have to fix that up a bit. And I don't mind the 'nitpicks' at all. It helps to improve the work. The tracks are just regular tracks. During wartime, the military used them as needed. This track just passes through an industrial area

Robert I see a dio shaping up to match your awesome locomotive. You have all the little detail elemnts to make it great. Only comment concerned the bricks but since you are fixing it it requires no further mention. I cant wait to see more of this as you progress. Cheers Kevin

There is a "look alike / same-ness" to all the vehicles (loco, tank and truck) w/ the soft edge camo. Maybe change that up alittle.

Otherwise... very original and expansive. You rock.

The Loco looks great and the size of the loco model is really apparent when viewed next to the activity scenes next to it.. Impressive!. Its going to take alot of photos to capture all the details on this one when its done. Excellent work and keep up the progress and postings.

This dio looks awesome..

as far as the comment about tram-rail tracks, it could be this dio is located in a more industrial area. Also, for a long while, even major railways were on road level, and sometimes literally ran through the towns on major roads.

One thing do. It looks like the barrel of your tank extends beyond the edge of the railcar. Something which would never be allowed to happen in real life.

Keep up the good work !!!

Looks great. I only think that the tank looks very unfinished: it looks as if you spraypainted the whole tank and did not do any weathering afterwards, but then again: it might be just the pictures. What definitly needs to be done is to secure the tank: use chocks and crossed chains to do so. Also close up the turret hatch: why would it be left open on a long journey by railcar? And to come back on the barrel: just turn the turret 180 degrees.
Easy as that......

Nice overall layout. You know you have work to do, that's cool.
One little detail I don't see (Yet) is chain tie downs for the pnz. The crosses on the kuble look a bit bright, that could be the photo though.
I personally would load up the side by the crane with a bunch of palettes and 'stuff'.
Great locomotive.

I'm interested in the construction of the train loco.... did you use plastic sheet? Where did you get plans and information about the basic design.

I'm working on a "soldiers on leave" scene, but chickened out on the loco and did a passenger car intstead!

Keith,
I used all plastic sheet of varying thicknesses, depending on where it was located. (check out my article in features). I got the idea from a French magazine called Fanatics Dioramas. No plans in there, but a couple of drawings and some photos...it seemed like an overwhelming project at first, but once I got into it, it was fun. And it went fairly smoothly also (Thank goodness)
