I don't think you needed to remove the entire camo net off the gun. You just didn't need to use so much and not run it all the way to the mantlet. In fact you might want to measure a 75mm barrel and net anything longer than the 75mm to the end of the muzzle. Crews often tried to hide the fact thay had the bigger guns since they were often singled out by German gunners due to their higer firepower.



Oh but now that I've removed the camouflage net off the gun, I like it better than with the net haha.

I did that on the M4A3(76) in the foreground. You can see by comparison to the M4A1(75) in the background that the exposed barrel length on the 76mm is about equal to that of the 75mm in an attempt to hide the bigger gun

That small area that is painted in a bare metal color does simulate where the paint wore off due to the recoil
