Anyone know a full run down on Michel Wittmanns Tigers.here are the ones i may know

-S04
-331
-222
-007
Can anyone add to this as i plan on doing every tiger that Wittmann commanded. am starting with S04,did S04 have a winter camo?
sorry to ask so many questions but i see it as a good challange.may be it could take off as a Wittmann campaign.may be a good idea not only Tigers but his other vehicels he used like panzer III and i think he commanded a stug but not sure any way more info the better.thanks and happy modelling.

It is funny that you mention this.

I am doing something similar for a Michael Wittman display that I want to do. I plan to build every vehicle he commanded if I can find enough information.

He commanded the following:

SdKfz. 222

Stug III

and the Tigers that you mentioned.

I also am in the process of compiling information. Perhaps we can visit through email and share some of our research.

Send me a PM if you are interested.

did S04 have a winter camo?

Karl, yes S04 was whitewashed, at least it was in some of the well known pics of it with Wittman and crew.
Also, I'm not sure about 331, as far as I know he didn't have a Tiger with #331, maybe 231? In Normandy Wittman's "official" mount was 205. Tiger 222 was commanded by Kurt Sowa, and whether or not this was the tank that Wittman actually used at Villers-Bocage is very much in debate. Many people now think it was 212 as Ron Volstad has portrayed on the boxart for the (hopefully) soon to be released Dragon late Tiger I. Here is a link to a thread on ML on this subject from 2001. It is since then that it was deduced that his ride at VB was most likely 212.

If you do a search on the Axis DG at ML you will come up with a lot of hits, much of it very interesting reading.

I planned to do the same thing. Building all of Wittmans rides as it were.

The book mentioned has quite a bit of good information on all of his "official" vehicles.

VB Tiger is a true mystery. I have seen at least 2 different ones in my research that he was claimed to have used.

I will look thru the book and let you know what I can find.

Well There is a set of decals for the Tiger 1 by Techmod that has tank 007 (the one he was killed in) and 205.

I built 205
