They do look good, but I wonder what else they may be producing. I'd like to see a different variant of the Sherman than what Tamiya is doing. Perhaps a composite M4 or a Firefly. Although I know I'm dreaming but I really want some modern armor done to modern standards (versus the Academy or Zhengdefu motorized toy series).

Whatever happened to Skybow's projected releases? They initially had a list of at least a dozen kits, and as yet, nothing! The samples of the early and late Tiger l's looked quite promising.

You've seen a list of projected kits ? That is news indeed! The only forthcoming item I know about is the Firefly... which was mentioned some months ago. I've not seen mention of any other planned vehicles. Please share the kit information you've aluded to.

When the Tigers were first announced it was mentioned that they hoped to expand the range up to around 30 kits. So far only the Sherman Firefly Vc has been refered to by name.

Just 2 days until the new Tigers are released to the distributors! Understand the Formosa price will be equal to about 17-18 American dollars.

Quite honestly, from what I have seen, the Skybow kits are far superior to the Tamiya ones which is a pity as Tamiya will be outselling Skybow about ten to one....Jim

I have to agree Jm, from what I can see the Skybow look better. Of course the proof is in the building.

Clearly, based on the SkyBow sample reviews we've seen, their offering will be the superior version. Not to say Tamiya's isn't very good; because I'm pleased with mine. But SkyBow apparently has managed an engineering marvel by cramming detail without losing scale accuracy.
I understand only one US distributor has been announced thus far. Marketing may be SkyBow's Achillies heel; lets hope not.

It's good to hear that the Skybow Tigers are finally coming to the retailers soon. I wouldn't hold my breath about future releases, but a Firefly VC would be a welcome addition to my collection!

Guys, someone on FSM shared the good news that the SkyBow tigers are finally hitting the shelves in Asia -- I guess other markets won't be too far behind.
Weirdly, the thread was then deleted from FSM's board. Not sure why.

You'll probably run across one before I do. Please let us know how it looks/builds. It is too bad Tamiya beat them to the punch. I'm the type of person who only needs one 1/48 scale Tiger in my collection. I bought the Tamiya one and will most likely pass on the better Skybow one.
As far as FSM's missing post, they are strange about that and disappear many posts without explanation.

That's how I feel too, and normally would just stick with the Tamiya kit. But I've convinced myself that the later Tiger I, with the steel wheels, no feifel, zimmerit, etc., is sufficiently different that I could buy that too.
I agree though that I now wish I'd waited to get Skybow's early Tiger I. Not that the Tamiya is a bad kit -- it looks very nice.

Not out here in Japan yet.
I'm eagerly awaiting that Late Version!
The only minus I see with these kits is the rubberband tracks. No big whoop, but I'd have to change 'em out.

The post deleted over on Fine Scale was one started by Frank. I made a follow-up reply and "poof" it was gone a few hours later. That's at least 3 of Frank's threads they've hammered. It's most frustrating ,... because no one promotes quarterscale more than this gentleman... I'm close to harboring suspicions of the moderator's possible agenda.

Its good to see more 1/48th kits. Does anyone for see any pz3 or pz4's? I have a project going that may be better in 1/48th. Kevin

Hopefully Skybow will do well with the new kits. At least they did do different versions.
Because of their size, I find the built-up quarterscale kits are much more collectable than those in larger scales. I actually have finished one Tamiya Tiger and started on another, and plan on building at least a couple more plus a Sturm Tiger.
I definitely will build at least a couple of Skybows to model the late and early (Bovington) versions. Seems to me that to end up with a complete set of the major variants and theatres you need about 5 kits, 6 if you to a Sturm Tiger. The Skybows are definitely going to figure in that collection.

I agree, Konrad. I expect the SkyBow tigers to be excellent models, and find myself already looking forward to the Firefly.

Make that 7, Konrad, if you do a Bergetiger as well.

I am not sure about doing that one myself - my oracle in Aberdeen MA tells me it is really a field conversion done in Italy. Looks really funky and kinda cool, though. Quarterkit France is going to do a resin conversion of that vehicle that looks really nice.
May burn out on Tigers by that point but you never know. Check out the Quarterkit Berg Hetzer too!

One problem is, that the name "Bergetiger" is absolutely wrong and was never ever used by the Germans. The vehicle is called "Ladungsleger-Tiger" (to drop explosive devices). It's sad, that all guys in the books tend to use the wrong name for this vehicle all the time. It wasn't a recovery vehicle - so the name "Bergetiger" is total fiction!
