I first began modelling when I was about six and carried on till about 16 and built Airfix 1/72 planes and tanks with Humbrol glue and enamel paints which I applied witha paintbrush/trowel. Istuck most of them to our ceiling with fishline and thumbtacks... And was proud!

I gave it up for about 30 years (while the British Army and the rest of my life got in the way) and re-discovered my interest by accident... I was bored while home on leave last year with the family. Assorted grannies meeting associated kiddiewinks etc... So I bought a 1/35 scale Challenger 1 to build... Because I was bored!

I used google to give me some hints and discovered this site, (among many).

MISTAKE!

Having built some wagons I drove, and looked with sheer awe at the other examples of creative talent on this site I cringe at my efforts!

This is a wonderful website!

Yep, almost my same story a couple years ago. I still have to physically control myself from going online when I really should be modeling, like I should be right now.

Enjoy and welcome.

The force is strong is this one..

Welcome to the dark side of life.. You must already know that glueing bits of plastic exceeds the mediocre way of life of mainstream society..
Don't hesitate to post some pic's of your work, we appreciate all efforts.

Cheers

Murdo

Welcome to what I consider to be the best site on the net.

It is very friendly and also very addictive - like halfyank says, I too spend too much time here when I really should be sniffing glue. :-)

Welcome back to the hobby (or obsession in some cases). This is a wonderful site, populated by what could easily be called family. Don't be afraid to ask questions, as you will probably get more answers than you wil know what to do with from some very knowledgeable brothers/sisters.

Murdo -

Welcome back to the fold. Great to get more "older" types back into the hobby. Much the same story for myself. With kids grown and I'm hoping for more leisure time to enjoy modeling. Armorama is the greartest place to be to share experiences, ideas, techniques, and to learn.

Welcome aboard Murdo, you'll find your stay here to be informative, insightful, highly interesting and at times hilarious with some of the kidding that can go on here. lol I'm in the same boat as you, just got into the hobby last year and found the site and it really pushed me to get into the hobby. There's such a high level of enthusiasm and espirit de corps here that you'll never feel lost or alone in a build.

Join a campaign once you get settled, it's a great motivator in getting kits built!

Hi Murdo

Welcome to the site and back to the hobby. As BARV says you may want to think about a local club, I run the one in Edinburgh. and we should be putting on a club display next weekend at East Fortune Air Museum in East Lothian, During there WWII weekend. Drop me a line if you want more details.

I am guessing you area ex Tanki from the Scots DG.

Good luck with your return to the hobby and enjoy all it intails and brings.

Cheers
Sapper8863.
