Well 10,000 registered users is looming in the next day or so. Obviously we have had a huge uptick in user registrations since making the gallery require registration to see the full sized images.
In conjunction with switching over to our new dual-server system, this milestone is definately a high-point for me since starting the site in late 2001. Armorama will be celebrating its 4th Birthday on December 16, 2005! The growth of the site in such a short time is a testiment to all the active members, moderators, and staff who make it what it is.
I will keep this topic updated to track the membership number.
Cheers,
Jim

Jim, just curious, do you have any way of knowing how many of the registered members are active? By active I mean someone who posts regularly on the forums.

Thank you for your outstanding work, Jim. This site has done wonders to my interest in modeling.
BTW: I see you are user number 2. Who is number 1?

I asked myself the same question Erik and thought it was Jim's wife...
Jim, will member n° 10000 receive something special? An award or a gift? I think there will be a slow down in registering around the 9990 mark because everybody will have the 10000 number!

I remember back in 2001 when this forum first started and how excited we were over the first 500, then the first 1000 and the big one was 2000 members!!
Times sure have changed but Armorama is still a great place!

Mike,
The only statistic I have that comes close to tracking this is this one.
Registered Users viewing Forum in past 30 days: 1280
It has always run in the 10-15% range of total membership.
#1 user is "Anonymous".
Cheers,
Jim

I remember discussing this on site a while ago (registered users). I think that other than Jim's first few usernames, that I was the only other active member of the first 10 enlistees.

Its always nice to be part of a virtual community that is constantly growing.
Are you doing anything once we hit the 10K mark? ie: Splash this all over the front page?
Maybe create a small graphic and assign it to all that were part of the first 10,000?

Jeremy,
Probably not as I generally do more for the site's birthday which will be in December.
But you guys are welcome to have a party in the MSN chat room! I may even join in.
Cheers,
Jim

10,000 members is a considerable milestone to reach especially in under 4 years. It's a testament to the commitment of everyone from Staff Jim downwards. Kudo's to all.
Pete
Ps I wonder how many of the first few members are still active?

10.000 members in less then 5 years is an astonishing achievement... Which is only possible to the brilliant friendly nature of the site and the continuous upgrading and evolution the site has undergone through the years. Something to be really proud of Jim Starkweather and of course the editors, the mods and all the people involved in this site and making it what it is today.
Oh and for the banner. I already made something up a couple of weeks ago for this event. It is kinda lousy but it was only 5 minutes work. I can probaly work out something better
