I need some help finding wheels that are at the very least similar to the ones on the Bofors carriage in the pic below. Are there any kits that I can rob them from or is the an AM manufacturer that makes them?

Armo #35-526..... wheels for the Ba3/6 armored car. (also good for the GazAA and AAA)
You'll have to come up with the back sides though. But they are the wheels and tires you are looking for.

Thanks Dave. Any chance of a pic of the ARMO wheels? What do the backs of the wheels look like?

I don't have my kit to look at (I'm at the in-laws) but those wheels look similar to the front wheels on the Tamiya 2 1/2 ton truck if I remember correctly.

Here you go, I had a picture in my gallery.

I guess the only thing close to matching is the wheel. One difference I see off hand is the hub on the wheel of the AA carriage is recessed more than it is on the truck. The hub on the front wheels of the truck stick out a little more. Another issue is the tread pattern. The tread pattern differs considerably between the two.

First off Ken, what size are the ones on the Bofors?

The 2 1/2 ton duce wheels have 6 cutouts and 6 lugs. the ones on the bofors look to have 5 cutouts and 5 lugs.. though its a little hard to tell..

Thanks for the replies thus far guys. The Armo wheels so look to be the best match.
This wheel has 5 cutouts and 5 lugs.
Kurt, I have no idea what the sizes are. I only know that the carriage is the M2 (M2A1 only changed the elevating and traversing gears) There is too little info out there on this weapon.
I have another pic below that was taken at the U.S. Army Air Defence Artillery Museum in Fort Bliss, TX. If anyone has access, I would love to know more.

The first pic below is what I am ultimately going to be building. Looking as close as the pic allows, the wheels look to be different than the ones I posted above. The second pic below, shows again another different pattern. I have plenty of photos of this weapon on the M2 carriage, and just as many differing wheel/tire patterns.
It would almost seem that I could use just about any wheel and get away with it. Wish I had more info.

I can't get to my TMs because they are packed for a move, but I was able to find the tires sizes on the M2/M2A1 1944 listed as 6.00-20. It used a 4.50CR divided rim contour. That would make the metal part visible on a model 22-1/4 dia. I can't find any exact numbers but looking at other sizes this would mean that the tire OD would be about 33-1/2 inches and the cross-sectional width would be around 6 inches.

However, it is hard to find many references to this tire size in wartime documents. I suspect that it may have been replaced with 7.00-20 or 7.50-20 tires in many cases. For example, on 1 Aug 1944 the 5th Army Ordnance Depot in Italy reported no 6.00-20 tires or tubes in stock. Surely 5th Army had 40mm gun carriages, so surely they would have had spare tires for them.

After mid 1943 AA carriages were only issued "civilian", standard weight, Truck and Bus tires, not Combat "run-flats" or NDCC alternate lug types.

HTH,
KL

Thanks for the info Kurt. Much appreciated. Your last statement kinda eased my feelings about what to do if I cannot find the standard issue wheels/tires.
Thanks.
