I don't know if this is news to anyone or not. I received this poster at the KC AMPS show over the weekend and thought I would post it for everyone to see. I did a site search looking to see if something similar had already been posted and did not come up with anything. So, my apologies if this is repetitive information.

Pawel, is there a chance to see an M1IP (105mm gun) in the future? The hull is already existing from the Panther kit. It would wfill the gap between the M60 and M1A1 in USAREUR service in the eighties.

PS: What about a new M60 series from Dragon? (Besides a new Centurion, Chieftain, Challenger 1/2)

There is a chance, but nothing is decided yet. It could be released either as a regular DML release or as Cyber-Hobby.com special release (like DAK Tiger). Everything depends on the market response to new M1A1 kit. The hull in M1A1AIM is completely redesigned, and future M1 family kits will be based on this new hull rather than M1 Panther II hull which still had some errors.

I know that there are some fans of the M60 series in Dragon team, so who knows? Maybe, one day...

Now,
I would be truly excited if they also included the Marine Version of the Grenade Launchers. That would make this a complete kit. Ok, now that I have everyones dander up, it just shot up to number 1 on my kit list as well.. Good thing that I have 5 M1 kits I can use as parts spares (grenade launchers). Many people didn't or don't know that the Marine Corps Tested the Aim Tanks as well. 1st Tank Bn. had 5 during the late 90's for testing.

Andy,
As far as I know these test you mentioned were succesful and USMC now uses AIM tanks (of course with Marine standard modifications). At least that's what Mike Mummey told me.

Pawel,
Yes, Mike is correct, but there are people that didn't know this. Marines tend to modify everything. Do you know if they added in the Marine Launchers? I just ordered one from VLS cost is only 29.95. They also show 3536 as an M1A2 SEP. Can't wait to get my hands on it, so hopefully it won't be too long until it hits the street.
When we did the field testing of the AIM tanks, every Tank Company, or Platoon that went to the field was required to take an AIM tank. One of the things we were testing for was the mechanical reliability of the whole system as well as trying to determine how many miles and hours a vehicle could take, this information was used to try and establish a rebuild criteria for the M1A1 series of Tanks.

I think not, but it may still change before the kit is released. I believe DML have plans to release separate USMC kit later - with Marine grenade launchers, troop phone box, correct bustle rack extension etc.

Man, I'm getting a warm fuzzy feeling just looking at the poster. Looks like it's time to wrap up my other M1 kits for the "white elephant" gift exchange at the club this Christmas!! :-) (I'm not sure you could get much for them on e-bay now)
Cheers,
Mike

Mike,
Every little bit helps. I just hope that Mr. Tamiya is starting to take notes on the quality and pricing of these kits.
