I noticed a while ago that the colourscheme of the Gallery had changed from the pleasant darker colours to a vivid blue and grey that hurts my eyes... . I was hoping that it would be temporary, or something to do with server change over. Seem not as it's been like this for some weeks now. .
Cheers
Henk

Frankly as long as the gallery is working, I couldn't give a damn what color it is. This new color scheme makes it a lot easier to work in it - end of story...Jim

I too like the older style, easier on the eyes.
The concern I have is with the constant shifting of the layout within the gallery. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this but when working properly, the layout on my gallery has the albums placed above showing how many photos within the individual albums, and at the bottom the individual photos not in any album. As it stands right now, the albums are on top followed by a mix of the individual and album photos. The difference is that in the optimal setting, there are only 5 pages of photos in my gallery, and as it stands right now, there are 16 pages of mixed album and individual photos.
Is this something that is being looked at? Does anyone else have this recurring shift in gallery layout?
Frank

Not sure what's easier to work with, but he, if you like working under striplights, good for you .
Me, I prefere the subtle ( subtle, Jim ) dark tones which make the pictures stand out better. To my eyes the very light background really overpowers the photo's.
To each their own.
Mal, If I can get my shifts swapped I might see you in Milton Keynes..
Cheers

LOL! I actually posted in Staff to compliment Jim on the new look before I spotted this thread! I really like the new colour scheme - I think it makes the photos stand out better and I find it clearer and kinder on the eyes when navigating through the admin folders.

Henk, would love to see you at Milton Keynes, see my post in the UJ Club, but if you like the old gallery colours you are definately loosing it. Remind me, where are you from again :-)

Messing about with my gallery. I noticed that the individual photos are fixed in the current background, but you can alter the background for your albums by hitting the edit key and changing the theme. I've done it for my aircraft albums. Slowly going back to the dark grey (metal theme).

Frank... before you spend too much time on that you might want to wait till I have a chance to alter the current scheme to what I planned on. This will probably remain a white background but the area AROUND the photos and thumbs will have a dark grey background.
Also I will probably play around with different styles for the albums in certain areas. Like T-Factory already has it's own style for example.

I hadn't noticed the new scheme until seeing this post. Jim must have changed it within the last day or so. I can only see one downside to it. It makes it look exactly like so many other sites I've seen on the net. The old scheme did make ours stand out a bit more. If this scheme is easier to set up, or more stable, great. If not the old scheme did make us look different, which is a good thing.

I found the old colour scheme dark, evil, and wonderfully military. I find the new colour scheme to be cold, bright, and healthy in a very hospital-like way. Take your pick, but that's my input as a professional art director.

Hi
I tend to agree with Henk.
The shade of blue is more suited to a brand new car or someone's bathroom wall. I like the blue as a shade but not for this application.
As a general rule, a background colour for showing coloured images to best advantage should lean towards the more sober.
I liked much better the previous dark grey and even more so the one before with white background and grey bars and title panels....much more effective.
The new blue one deems it vital to wear my Ray-Bans IN the office.
One hopes a less optically agressive scheme will be forthcoming...soon please...soon.
And the one Uncle Jim has planned seems like one I look forward to if I can get over the dazzle...
Cheers
Peter

Priceless
The striplights in the office are fighting for supremacy with the gallery.... Our office building is now visible from outer space...
