In the recent book "Sainte-Mere-Eglise: Photographs of D-Day - 6 June 1944" by Michel de Trez, there's a photo of a Willys Jeep being used by the 505PIR, 82nd AB. It was re-captured from a German unit who had acquired it from an earlier campaign (Italy?). The Germans had modified it with Notek lights and other German features as well as painting it in the 3-tone camo scheme. The photo shows the Jeep with a OD panel tied to its grille with a large US white star.
I used the Tamiya kit and added tons of rivets and other details. Some old PE bits were used too. I made a point to add the very visible spring shackle U-bolts which are just blobs on the kit. The photo shows that the Germans removed the padding of the front two seats as well.
Comments and constructive criticism are welcome. Thnx for looking, RC

You even riveted the inside of the front wheel well - nice.
Looks great - I'd like you to share what you did with the seats. I like the modification.
One nit pick is the inside part of the windscreen bracket mounting rod shows some seam line. 2nd picture left and right side where it bends around the jeep body. Easy to sand smooth

Thnx for the observations Scott and David: I'll fix that seam and fix that parking brake. Someone else also pointed out to me that wartime Jeeps didn't have wiper motors. That's why I'm glad to have posted the pics!
Wish me luck, I'm hopin to have this ready for AMPS Nats in under two weeks.
