Now with that said, lets talk about change for changes sake. Sure change is good as long as it is Progress - we gain somthing we didn't have before. Sorry Jim, but in this case what we gained is not too clear to me

At the outset, let me say, that it's taking me a while to adapt to it and i'm not entirely convinced. However, with the significant site changes which will be taking place over the coming months, some new interface had to be put in place. We also had to get the site running faster as well. So, in that respect, 'Change for the sake of change' is a little too simplistic a way to look at it.

If it actually encourages people to look BEYOND (yes people, there is something more) the forums and find what else is available on the Kitmaker Network, then it's worth it...Jim

Dear Jim

I have another thing that puzzles me. Wasn't there the possiblity to post a new topic from the "latest posts" page ? It is not really nice to do 2 more clicks (and wait for the pages to build up) to post a new topic.

If it is not my fault (I easily overlook such things ) could you please establish a possiblity to post new topics from there again (if it is possible).

best wishes

Steffen

Hi Staff Jim

Question : is the colour separation a replacement for the "newest post flag"?

If so : I like it !!,

but could you make the coulour stand out a little more? Pleeeeeez...

best wishes

I must admit I am getting used to it...

I still think its too narrow, seeing as its the title panel.
But where would the ads be stuck? (Answers on a postcard and sent in a plain brown envelope).
For me the biggest down is the lack of grouping facility.
With my dislexia its much easier for me to group all Aircraft posts, all Armours, all Dios etc. I browse all areas anyway but now it just takes a lot longer to tune in my eyes and brain....oh yes I DO have one...not a good one but in its own small way its there ....even longer now in spite of the faster loading speed. I hated it for the confusion it caused me, not the way it looked from a design point of view. The LP panel itself is a nice bit of work. It just looks squeezed by the other topics and ads side. And its a pity to mask the good.

In conclusion if the group forum topics facility returns I'll be delighted.

Cheers
Epter

I agree partly with Jim: speed is paramount. But the eye is also important. The place of the kitmaker box is somewhat unhappy, since it takes up a lot of space. I would like to suggest to place it eiter at the top or at the bottom of the page. This should not take a lot of work and keeps up the re-found speed of the forum.

erm... i can't seem to work out what the little "forum" and "topic" sort buttons are doing.
now about the changes in general -
what i like-
being able to keep up with the breakaway forums easier i.e. ships, ipms-uk
what i miss-
just a little one, its being able to sort posts alphabeticaly.
finally, as much as you liked things how they were, times do change

Love it or hate it, its always nice to have a change. I have studied some sites and the trend has always been that members start fading away when the site becomes stagnant over long periods of time (example: DigitalDioramas). Constant change does refresh the interest on the site.

I personally dont mind it. Im mainly here for the modelling tips and a bit of socialising so aesthetics play a small role in my coming here.

Agreed. At least an attempt is being made to make things better. Unlike M-L, where repeated requests for an edit function, and bumping current posts to the top, go unanswered.

Page load times are noticably quicker for me, and that by itself is a reason to give the changes a big thumbsup. Good work.

The changes are growing on me. Took about a day and a half but having not problems now. I do think that Ted's idea about having hot links to the various "Latest Posts" pages in the header would be handy. However, three extra clickies is not a big deal.

Hi Shaun!

I think Jim already reacted to this suggestion. From the Latest Post page you can browse from one Latest Post page to another by clicking the small LP links. you don't need three extra clickies anymore!
I have a question about the Campaign Pages. Will they stay in Armorama or will they be moved to Modelgeek? As they are a place where all kind of modelling meet together, I would rather see them in the latter. The Campaign forum is for me like the center of a town were all the people get together during the week-end, while the other forums (Armor, Aircraft, Ships, Figures etc...) are the subburbs where you live with your family...

Now its working.
Very happy to see the group forums back.

Maybe in future a pre-change post might be put up saying "changes are due or are in progress. Final version will be up in the next "X" days or so."

Anyway we can all get on with the agenda of modelling again. :-)

Cheers
Peter

One thing I have noticed over the last couple of days is that the pages load extremely fast now. This is fantastic since for the time being I am still on dialup at home. I can live with anything else as long as the page speed is this good.

Thanks Jim.
