Hi guys,
really nice builds. Kevin, any update available ? Naturally I am really curious about that kit ....
Andy, nice Stug, looks like you really know how to handle all that PE !
Hellbent,
I have updated two of the gallery pics with a little "history" I found on the web, hope that's good enough ?!
I like your ideas for the badge, the stars are a nice addition, too ...
cheers - Andreas -

Hi Jan

Nice KV-1 I know what you mean, I think thats my worst part of my modeling is the painting, its not the time or patience but if the paint job will come out, I just finished anpther Tiger 1 Mide Prod. and did it in winter white , and i can tell you that was hard since is was my first.

Mike and Andreas hit the nail on the head! The explanation that both gave was just right. I hope everyone gets a chance to see what these guys have put in the comment section of the gallery because it is spot on. Nothing fancy just a good lesson for us to get more familiar with these exceptional soldiers on both sides.

Another thing! Can anyone point me in the direction of the guys I need to talk to about our ribbon and the multiple award issue? I haven't heard anything yet and I know everyone's busy. I just want this to be a good campaign for everyone.

For me it's final finishing! The last few coats of Future and washes always screws me up. It's so devastating because I've had a great build until then and put a lot of effort into things only to have them blown to hell in the last few stages! I wish I could buy kits that just had the last bit to do so I could get more practice without going through all that time and effort!

Hi, Hellbent ,

At least i know I'm not the only one out there that has problems with painting and the final finishing of a project, I always sweat bullets when it comes to the straight away finishing a project, Like on this White Tiger I did, I've just finished decalling it and putting the final coat of dullcoat on it,
and I'm finding other things i can do to it. Sometimes i just need to say I'm finished, and thats it. Just had a problem with Model Master Acrylic paint not sticking too a King Tiger I was doing, which got me totally , so know i have to fix it some how.

Well back to the grindstone these models won't build themselfs you know.

By the way I'm glad there's another Cat backer on line. Go Cats

What do you guys think of the ribbon? I hope you like it as I was trying to go for something that would tie in the campaign and would be different from other ribbons.

Remember that we wrap up on 31 dec! Get your stuff in the gallery to be counted!

Only a few days left to finish now

My KV-1 is as good as done, figures painted and ready and I am working on the base.

Since this is my first effort at a campaign, I need some help on how to proceed from here.

Where do we post the finished result and how should it be presented

Hi Jan,
once finished you should upload your pics here :

gallery

of course you need to create an account, but that's not difficult. Just make sure the pice are not too big. hellbent11 has created a badge you're about to receive after the camapign has ended.
Easy as that ...
cheers - Andreas -

by the way : you can always show us some WIP pics in the thread here ?

On 19 August 1941, a platoon of four KV-1s of the 1st Tank Division succesfully ambushed a German tank column advancing near the Voiskovitsy collective farm near Leningrad. The platoon leader, Sr. Lt. Zinoviy Kolobanov, knocked out the two lead tanks in the column. The following tanks apparently did not relize what had happened and continued to move forward. Kolobanov's platoon moved into the midst of German battalion and, in the melee that followed, Kolobanov destroyed 22 German tanks, ramming at least one in the process. His tank was hit 135(!) times during the firefight. The other three KVs destroyed a total of 16 other tanks. Kolobanov's feat made him the second highest ranking Soviet tank ace of the war.

This is my first tank ever finish and also my first 1/35 figures painted.
I am painfully aware that I am no Jaume Ortiz or Calvin Tan.

It is also my first every diorama/Vignette, so obviously any tips and advise are more than welcome.

Hi Jan,
happy new year to you and all of you guys.
The KV I looks really nice, I also like the dio you placed it in. One thing tough : the steel wheels and tracks should show some bare metal where on the color and rust is worn off.

Re. the dio : the grass under the forward part should be more squashed under the weight of the beast, other than that : really nice job.

This was my first campaign too. However, I don't think it will be my last.

I actually enjoyed the pressure that I HAD to finish my model, which forced me to do something about it. As I said earlier, this is my first ever 1/35 model to actually finish - and I probably wouldn't have done it if it wasn't for this campaign

Hey Guys, I have to appologize for not getting to the ribbon's sooner. My Grandfather has had a series of strokes and I've been out of town at the hospital with him. He's doing O.K.

Now that I'm back home I went to try and award them. For whatever reason I can't seem to find any way to award them. I'll drop a line and see what the trick to this whole thing is and make sure you all get what's coming to you! Thanks, Hellbent

You should all have your ribbons that earned them.

IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU PUT A PICTURE IN THE GALLERY BUT DIDN'T INCLUDE A DESCRIPTION OR BRIEF SUMMARY OF YOUR "ACE" YOU HAVE NOT RECIEVED THE RIBBON YET!

A FEW SENTENCES IN THE FORUM OR GALLERY WILL SUFFICE.

I WILL STILL TRY AND AWARD YOU THE RIBBON AS THERE ARE A FEW PEOPLE WHO HAVE RUN INTO THIS.

PLEASE include the description as laid out in the requirements.

Thanks Hellbent

My entry was Tiger 007commanded by Michael Wittmann, he was KIA on 8 August 1944, in a battle field near the road to Caen.

This is a brief description of the M4. I kind of forget the description part.

The Medium Tank M4 was the primary tank produced by the United States for its own use and the use of its Allies during World War II. Production of the M4 Medium tank exceeded 50,000 units, and its chassis served as the basis for thousands of other armored vehicles such as tank destoyers, tank retrievers and self-propelled artillery. In the United Kingdom, the Lend-Lease M4 was dubbed the General Sherman after Union General William Tecumseh Sherman, following the British practice of naming American tanks after famous American generals. Subsequently the British nickname found its way into common use in the US. Following WWII, the M4 medium tank was used by the US until the end of the Korean War. Many nations continued to use the tank in both training and combat roles into the late 20th century.

I see I was not awarded my ribbon for my completion. I guess one of the curses for finishing the campaign early on, you tend to be forgotten. A trick I learned when I did my campaign was to go ahead in my computer make a list of the particpants who completed the requirements from the get go. I monitored my thread every few days adding to the list. Consequentially, I awarded ever one who completed and no one had to protest they never got one. NOw, this is not made as a slap. It was a really nice campaign and as always I enjoyed participating in it.

That being said, I am resubmitting my entry here. This Ernst Barkmann's Panther type D. Of course he is best known for his gunfight in the Bocage (known popularly as Barkmannn's Corner) where he knocked out 9 Shermans and a variety of other vehicles singlehandedly. That tank was aa A version the one I have modeled is one he used at Kursk the year before. I used DML's kit with Cavalier Zimm, added some engine screens and a metal barrel from either Barrel Depot or Eduards.

Yikes I didn't realize I hadn't put final picture on the 'official' thread. But I never saw many completeted models on this thread to start with. I thought I had, but there were several Aces threads working at the same time. Heck, I took up most of page 2 back in Sept with it almost done.

It was C. Abrams Thunderbolt VII M4A3E8 'easy eight' with unique additonal armor plating on the hull, turret, and glacis from the new Dragon kit. It was finished less then 2 weeks after the kit was released in September I had posted these somewhere and remember complaining that the pictures were terrible. I never did get around to taking better pictures that portrayed the colors properly. Oh well...

The only thing that wasn't done was I lost the sledge at some point.
