OK, just to let everyone know,
I'll be out of commission for a while.
while I was shredding my personal papers,
my one cat who hates the shredder, suddenly attacked and shredded my left hand with his rather long and sharp claws.
So my left hand now has a rather large compression bandage on it, and several band-aids.
Of course being on blood thinners, needless to say, there was one heck of a blood trail to clean up, from the living room to the bathroom, after I finally stopped the bleeding.
So there won't be any modeling or photos until I can at least remove the bandage, and hold something in my left hand.
My typing has gone from 8 fingers.... OK I've never learned or mastered the thumb, back to hunt and pick with one hand, so I'll be missing in the typing pool for a while also.

That sounds painfull, cat claws really are designed to rip you apart.. I had cats as a kit, and had the scars.
Hopefully the hand heals quickly, and in the mean time, enjoy a well earned rest.
Cheers
Henk

Dave,
As I said via Skype... OUCH! I hope you heal up quick. I had a similar raking by our cat a few months back. I think I am going to have some nice scars on my forearm for a few years to come.
Birthing... Lol :-)
Take care,
Jim

Ouch, sounds painful. Get well soon Dave. I enjoyed our offline chats, it helped me get some things off of my chest.
BTW, I would have come up with a better story. Something about being heroic or with women or at least a home improvement mishap. Might have sounded a little more macho than the cat story
Try this: I was cleaning my 9mm and the slide slipped and caught my hand...

Ouch....I have 17 cats (Yes, that's right-17. They're all outside cats.), and I know exactly what you're talking about. Heal fast, get back to the plastic (Kits and Keys) and remember-we all started with chicken-typing! Thanks for your time and get better!

Get well soon Dave.
Hope the cat recovers from shredder shock too.
See you in the Cyber bar while you recover. At least you can lift a glass with the other hand. And if you can't ....you talk and I'll drink.
Hope to see you at it again soon.
Cheers
Peter

How big was the cat? :-)
Sorry to hear this Dave; caught in a whirlpool of swirling emotions, I am... (OK I'm over dramatising) Was going to go and buy a cat tomorrow! Think I'll start with a kitten still though...
By the by, are you a molly duker?
Cheers Brad

Oouchie ouchie ouchie
I've got three cats and don't even want to imagine a shredded hand. Get better and you can still type with one hand with the 'hunt and peck' method.

Oh my goodness, Dave:
I am so sorry to hear about this. Hopefully, you'll be back to normal very
soon.
BTW, what yardarm are you going to hang that pussy cat from? The
main'sol topgallant? The Royal topgallant, perhaps. The kitten is in the
mizen. . .

Sorry to hear that Dave. Did the Doc put you on antibiotics? As I understand it, wounds inflected by Satan's Children (that is what my wife calls cats) can be bad news infection wise.
Get well and stay Grumpy...

Ugh!That's a tough one, Dave. I don't mess with our cat when it has 'that look'. As for springing a leak while taking blood thinners, well I know what you're talking about.Just amazing how much can come out of a little tear Might try super glue after you clean it really, really well and it's not too big.
Wrap the whole paw in gauze and put a hook over it,matey! Yar!
Get well soon

Get well soon Dave.
With 5 cats myself, i have been clawed and bitten on numerous occasions and know how painful and irritating it can be.
Look on the bright side, at least you can do some research, well slowly with 4 fingers .

Sorry to hear about your hand. Cats are secretive animals and not to be trusted. Obviously he had some of his own confidential papers stashed in among yours and was trying to stop you shredding them. Frequent searches of his area will turn up more and may reveal who he is working for.

Hand is swollen, can't hold or grip anything with it, so Doctors visit tomorrow morning.
Thanks fro the chuckles....

At least your wound wasn't self inflicted. I was using an old rusty screwdriver to break a plaster waste mould away from a resin cast sculpture one of my students had made. The screwdriver broke through the plaster and skidded on the resin and into the palm of the hand I was holding the mould in. Yes I know I should have used a clamp. Thankfully no students were present to see me skewer my hand. I had to spend 4 hours in the A&E, getting a tetanus shot, an x-ray and having the wound painfully cleaned out, no stitches though. The worst part was having to explain how I did it to each successive person in the hospital
