Jim will probably hate this and I wouldn't blame him, but I think the time has come to show a little bit more support to Ol' Jim than just the occasional Atta' Boy. Every man and woman here will readily agree that this is the best damn site on the web. Well, now things are hitting a rough spot because we have expanded so much and so many people are viewing it on a constant basis, that it is crashing way to much. This used to be the most dependable site out there, but these problems that have plagued it over the past month need to be resolved. Jim isn't the richest guy on earth (I know, cause I am :-) ), and now he needs to upgrade the server so all you guys can enjoy this site like it aught to be. I feel I have put a lot of time and energy into this site, and I feel I have a stake in it, too.
If you feel like I do,then I officially challenge each person out there who can afford it, to send $10 in to help Jim out. I challenge you to give up two issues of FSM, or make do with that old set of brushes for another month, or give up that one set of accessories you don't really need to help bring this site backup to speed. Jim has never once insinuated anyone here should make a financial contribution to the site, so I think a donation would be our way of validating all the work that Jim has done for us.
Jim, if you could please post your snail mail, it would be appreciated. I am going to be the first to help out, I challenge everyone else to take up that gauntlet.

I agree and while I'm only on a disability pension and the exchange rate and bank fee will hurt me I am willing to send some money for the upgrade too.

Rob (and all),
I appriciate your support and desire to help me out. I am torn between declining and accepting your kind offer of help. The idea with this site has always been that our advertisers would bear the cost of it's operation. We are doing pretty good in that regard, but I won't lie, the setup fee (for the host I have in mind) is the real road-block at the moment.
After giving this some thought. I would be open and thankful to accept anyones donation PROVIDED that they keep it under $20 maximum. I would feel wrong in taking anything more. Obviously the idea of a bunch of people donating $5 or $10 is much more appealing as a group. So for those wishing to send some "upgrade" funds you can either use the link below for paypal (preferred) or amazon (not as preferred) or email/PM me for my physical address. I hope you can understand why I don't really want it posted here.

Thanks SO much for your support (money or no money).
Cheers,
Jim

You have my donation too
As soon as I get paid from my job I`ll send my donation
Not a problem at all I would even be honoured to do it to keep this site in the air for the rest of my modelling days wich will probably be another 60 years as I`m only 21 :-) :-)

Jim,
Count me in too ! I'll open a paypal account and make that donation.
Next to that there's another question on my behalf, that is " Can you use more advertisers". If the answer is yes, I'll have a go at trying to find them. In that case please PM or e-mail me the do's and dont's for finding advertisers on Armorama. Like you said before "the Tamiya banner would be nice to have over here".... if things like this haven't been tried before....let's do so now.....

As long as the money comes from a good heart, the height of the ammount is less important. At least that's how I feel.

I, being a tight-ass in terms of money would have no problem in this case. This is by far the best Modelling site available thanks to Jim's efforts. Will Canadian Money do?

I did my part too, since I don't know how to work the Paypal system, so I had to go through Amazon, I enclosed a little extra as a mean to cover that 15% fee.
Thanks Jim.
Thanks Jim.

I would not normally donate any money to anyone, other than a model shop of course, but seeing that Armorama is certainly a special place I will contribute.
PM on the way Jim.

To staff_jim

To All Others who use this site and find its content enjoyable and useful:
I challange you to donate too. As said before, we all can wait a few weeks to aquire that next perfect modeling item for our personal stash.

This is an excerpt from another post that I did but I thought it was fitting to put it here as well so that Jim would be fully informed of donations coming his way.
I will gladly donate. Why? Because, I can afford it and feel a donation to improve this site is the least that I can do to compensate Jim for this fantastic home that he has created for us.
In the end, even those who cannot offer financial aid make their donation in constructive comments and their presence on this site. For this to be a true community, we need all the members we can get regardless of their demographics. I will consider anyone on this site a part of the same Armorama family if they have a penny in their wallet or $100.00.
Sharp Salute Jim!!

I read a lot of "blogs" on a daily basis and they are all free, like this site. They also hate paysites. Most of them, however, have a paypal or some link in a corner with a note that says something to the effect "if you think this site is worth a few bucks, click here." All voluntary, no pressure. That may work. I could hide a credit card donation from my wife fairly easily that way. If it went to Paypal she would think it was for something she bought on Ebay.
Just a thought. I really would like to help out.
