Hi Steve!
Here are pictures of my scratchbuilding project: a 1/48 scale Bugatti 100P racer plane. I didn't worked on it since December 2005...
I think this campaign could be the best motivation to finish it!
The body is resin and the last thing I did was to hollow the gear bays. I still have to do all the detail parts and the panel lines. More pictures can be seen here

I got the shots of the vehicle that I needed to start the scale drawings today.
After I make the drawings, I'll post a three quarter view of the actual vehicle.
And the kit wheels and kit parts that will start this project.
Very exciting!

Three quarter left rear view of the Cranemobile originally built by Bay City Shovels. This is what I am going to try and scratchbuild in 1/24 scale for the ACUTR scratchbuilding campaign.
These are the first drawings I've made of this vehicle to start building.

Yes, this one will be a challenge for me. Glad you like it and approve.
I followed the Centurion BARV build on the 'barv on barv' thread. Great!
I'll keep this thread posted on updates as I build the cranemobile.

Pave-Hawk - I noticed the other day that the Aussie crowd Mouse House have plans for the Perentie. Have you tried them yet for info ?.
I got their LRPV plans along with a bunch of other stuff. Plans aren't real detailed, but I used them to cut the side and rear panels you see in the photo, and along with the other stuff I have, I should be able to creat a reasonable LRPV. Doesn't help me with the cargo or ambo versions I also want to build unfortunately.
As for the engine and gearbox, I am thinking I may have to join a land rover or 4WD forum and see if I can get any photos from actual owners.

Well my topic is not as unusual as some of the projects here, but at least it's really small :-)
I use the 1/72 Revell Panzer IV Ausf. H as a base for an Ausf. D. There is still a lot left from the original kit some changes are only details.
I made the new front (atm without the visors and machine gun mount), opened a rear hatch and cleaned the engine deck:
The turret was roof cleaned as well and parts of the cooling equipment will be visible through the opened hatch:
Still some work to do, but a lot of time left as well
Greetings, ekke

All,
KoSprueOne - Thats an 'interesting' piece of equipment, I see you are using the Mack AC parts - its a good kit for "donor" pieces .
. . . .
Anyways for my "special" project this year I'm stepping back in time and going all-out (100%) on this -
img- P4-3.jpg -img
as well as trying to finish a few other half-started projects, plus just for the hell of it I think I'll throw in a couple of NBQB's (no brainer quick builds - the scratchbuilders equivilant of OOB ), namely these two gorgeous pieces of hardware
img- Pookie-10.jpg -img
img- Leopard-2.jpg -img
Just waiting on the reference manauls to arrive this week then it's fresh #11 blades for everyone, we're going in.
Well I'm looking forward to seeing the results of peoples efforts, plus the various ways each person tackles the 'dreaded' bare sheet plastic.
yes, the Mack Bulldog - Monogram.
The vehicles must be from the same era. I can't find anything else on it.
What is the vehicle you are building? Interesting rim blades.
I like those pookie and other mine vehicles. Very unique.

Ekke,
looks good, man. You're already cutting and filling plastic, I'm still making drawings and photocopies of them...
This is a very interesting campaign.

Yeah I tend to measure all the bits an pieces on their own rather than making one huge plan before starting. This is expecially because my project mostly requires fitting new (=scratchbuilt) parts into the original kit.
I surely would approach a 100% scratch project more carefully and with elaborate plans and drawings.
Greetings,
ekke

Steve
I would love to join in. I started building a Chevy Surgical supply truck with Cliff (and Hisham) but have been left a bit stranded since returning from holidays and finding Cliff gone. I used the latest Italeri Chevy as the base and have the cab and chassis completed.
There was only 1 photo in existence - plus the Ordinance(?) drawings of the vehicle.
However while I was on holidays in Darwin I managed to get up close and personal with a workshop/RAEME style rear section that the Americans left behind in 1945 and is sitting rusting in a museum. I took a number of photos and thought that it might make a good subject for a sacratchbuild.
All my modelling stuff was packed up 2 weeks ago as I have been transferred at work and actually head off next Saturday. It will be a few months before I manage to get back on the net and have more than a basic modelling kit.
So I may be a late starter - and if I don't get to the start line in time I may be hanging around asking lots of questions sometime in 2007.
