My son Alex has completed a couple of models. One is an AMT/Ertl Wile E. Coyote Ford Pickup and the other is a Commando Land Rover. Both are snap-tite kits since he is only 5. I watched him twist the parts off the sprue. He was having a blast and a new modeler is born.

Man, you hit me where I live. I remember doing this with my dad. The only difference was that he was building wooden ship models. I love it. The next generation of modeler.

The Coyote was his second kit, the first kit we did yesterday. The photo was fuzzy and I had to re-shoot it. It is another snap-tite kit, the Kommando Land Rover by Monti. Peel and stick decals that had to be cut out. He stuck them on himself after I cut them out. I had to attach the machine guns since they were fairly delicate.
Second photo is my daughter, she wanted to show off her snap-tite kits, but she's been doing glue kits for a bit now. She completed the Tamiya M151A2, BMW R75, and is working on their PzKfw II F/G. She cut her teeth on those Zhengdefu motorized kits. I bought a bunch of these low-priced kits on Model Expo, mainly Heller and some clearance Tamiya kits.

Rob, you have a couple of beautiful kids there and even better they are following in Dads footsteps. Maybe they should join the site as individual members and compete against and with Dad. You know a father/Mother versus kids forum.

I remember. I still have an old 1/48 scale snap Tiger and Patton. Every once in a while I dig them out and try to think of what I could do to them to make them accurate.

Well, crap. Those models look better than the ones I was going to take to the regional. I guess I'll just go and shop. They look great.

Glad to see the tradition being passed down! This proves that modelling will still be around in many years to come.............

Tell the kids great job on those kits.. :-) :-) :-)
and I guess since your getting em while they are young, you better get them started on their own stash's. although that will prob give them an unfair advantage in the future..

Hey, Rob, your little ones are doing a great job. If you're back in New England, you gotta bring the and their kits to our contest at the end of March. I'll be posting a full announcement a bit later.

I brought the two of them to the Spare Time Shop on Saturday, where we bought the Land Rover, BMW Motorcycle and Porky Pig car. Even though they like to build, they don't like to look with their eyes. They would definitely cut down on my fun time and it wouldn't be much fun for them.

Hi Rob,
If my modelling course takes off, apart from letting the students know about Armorama, I will make sure that they take a look at this post for inspiration.
Impressed. :-)

Outstanding Rob. I came home tired and a bit grumpy after a tough day. Your kid's pics made my day. The models look great and the kids clearly are having fun.
Way to go Dad.

Your kids did an excellent job on those kits! Man, I can't wait, mine is only 2 now and the other well...isn't even born yet. It's good to see that kids at that age will be interested in something that isn't on a computer....
On a different note...that snap together Tiger was absolutely one of my favorite toys when I was youngin'. I remember reading Sgt. Rock comic books and then "blowing up" the Tiger by taking it apart....Now that was a kit! I just wish I got the same type of enjoyment from models as I did then!
