Looks good. Not even a name for this kit yet? Looks late war and spring/autumn. The MP40 mags on the second figure look a tad stiff, and I've always wondered why DML didn't give the six pouches as individual pieces. With their 1/16 figs, I often separated the pouches and glued them on separately for a more realistic look. Is that a bandage on the third fig's head?

Not that I'm likely to get them, but the poses look very interesting.

More great figures to work into my vignettes...I love it The officer and the mine-carrier look particularly interesting. DML is spoiling me with these G-2 figures. Other 1/35 scale figures pale in comparison.

Just a quick remark on the 2`nd Panzermann from the right holding the tank mine, where the german anti-tank mines actually THAT thin?
From what i´v seen in the history books the smallest versions of the german tank mines where actually much bigger than that and even the "smallest" ones had to be carried by two men due to the weight.
Although as the german ordnance / explosives arent realy my turf can anyone please send tell me what type of mine the figure is holding?
And didnt the Germans have magnet mines?

Cheers /

It looks like a tellermine '43. It is a conventional anti tank mine that is pressure actuated. Often used for close defence against tanks by the Germans.
It looks about the right scale compared to my 1/1 scale item.

Can't fault the mouldings but the only one that looks in a natural pysical pose is the officer. The guy with the wounded head looks like a rehash of the Battle Of The Hedgerows guy in a smock with new arm. Sorry not convinced. The centre two figures look contrived. If they are going to release more Germans, an SS prone MG team would be good or even SS in firing positions, kneeling, standing, prone with rifles. Two of these are SS so why not useful figures for combat depictions?

I think the news that Hirano Yoshitaka has joined the Dragon team is excellent news.

The policy of DML has been to do the new Gen2 sets as 'Multipose' so, until the FULL images of this new set is published, it would be perhaps be useful to wait and see what alternative poses are ACTUALLY being offered....

I'm glad to see they are going to continue with that trend. I thought the best job they did with those multi-pose were on those Tarawa Marines.

Am I the only one who think that there's enough standing-German-holding-a-panzerfaust figure on the market and in the Dragon catalog?!

What would be more needed in my opinion are figures with action poses, reloading, aiming, crouched or kneeling.

Dragons releases are always armed to the teeth German figures but they always seem to be waiting something, like they are waiting soviets to pass by or anything.

Not that I absolutely want depict fighting german...but I don't want to always depict waiting soldiers, kinda boring don't you think?

I know I'll get shot to bits for saying this, but hey freedom of speech!! This set looks totaly un-inspiring. I understand DML are going to do German subjects so the issue isnt there, its the fact the poses are old and boring and look similar to figures they have previously released. The troops depiced here are clothed, posed and armed with all the stuff we have seen before from Dragon. Great news that this new sculpter has joined the team.

Anyway I guess all I have to do now i await some flak!

Reality check time! These are the images that DML chose to send us (to Armorama, not to ML PMMS or anyone else) and purely on an 'informational' level we should be quietly grateful. I keep checking the news story on a 10-minute basis, and there are NO indications that they're suddenly gonna morph into Gurkhas, or anything else.

What you see in the News story are advance images of another 1/35th scale Gen2 figure set. All the talkin' in the world ain't gonna change it...

No one expects them to turn into anything, I am tickled to see this site get the first look. I'd been happier if they'd been GIs or Tommys, they're not. Dragon is putting out a bunch of new Allied Armor and for that I am well pleased. So , another set of SS men , well, ok, eventually , there will be Americans as well., the Gen2 Marines are terrific, as are the Premium Rangers.

Jim is correct, Armorama got to enjoy a first look at some very nice figures, bottom line.

They look very good, usual high quality from Dragon. Just my personal opinion.. but the two figures sort of crouching look a little stiff. Hopefully they have a differnet set of arms that would liven them up a bit. The 2 figures in the middle are very well done, especially the guy with the bandaged head. Cross your fingers the new sculptor will give us even more interesting and innovative poses.

Well,as someone who is more inclined to go for allied over axis,,we have been down that road before...enough said .The figure on the third far right looks very much like a figure that i saw at a show this year painted by Gino Poppe,i'll have to post the pic here once i've found it.The officer seems to have the only natural pose, but i'm sure with a little imagination, mixing and matching, looking in the spares box, these figures could fit well together in a scene or apart.

The Dragon Gen Two figures keep getting better and better. I usually replace Dragon figs with Hornet heads, but these are so well done that I just use them.
The action of the figures is superb, the detail is amazing, the weaponry and equipment is excellent and some kits provide extra arms and hands for other figures.
Kinda of an addiction.
I wonder if they will produce these fine figures in the 120mm range like their earlier kits.

I'm still trying to get an answer from DML on this one - the idea of seeing Gen2 quality in 120mm is just TOO tempting to avoid...

Jim, no disrespect intended but you need to live with the negative comments people make. If people think that the poses are wooden and boring then thats their personal opinion. I personally think that this is possibly one of the most unimaginative figure sets that Dragon has released for years and while it's interesting to see a future release I don't actually see why we should be grateful unless they're going to pop a free box in the post to all of us! Its just another set of Germans milling about doing nothing in pretty weird poses...great. Just what I need for any wandering about doing nothing dioramas

Ola Jim

Thanks for the news story... Great job as usual... However I'm a big fan of Dragon I too am not too thrilled about some of the poses of the figures... however I see some good converting possibilities. The sculpting and the moudling probably will be up to Dragons standards no doubt.

I wonder with all the negative comments of some of the users here... which I shall not name because the people I'm talking about will know exactly who I mean. IS it really neccesary to whine with every new release of Dragon about it being German... At least it started with that... now it are also the poses and the subject... The figures in the kit and secondly a constant bashing of the man who brings the news.... did you hear that?

THE MAN WHO BRINGS THE NEWS!!

Repeat.....

THE MAN WHO BRINGS THE NEWS!!

He is called Jim Rae
Not Jim Volstad
Not Jim Yoshitaka
Not Jim the owner of Dragon
Not Jim the staff of Dragon

No Jim is actually the messenger and around the world on a few places in exception it is the rule not to shoot te messenger.
Then again I wonder when Dragon makes a allied subject in Gen2 if the people who are constantly complaining and whining about why they do almost only German subjects will give the same critics as they always do with German subjects... I personally love to see an allied subject because if I can find one fault.... Only one mistake..... Only one pose of which I´m not satisfied with.... If it is those boring Battle of the hedgerows pose of a standing GI pointing, Standing and smoking, Kneeling drinking coffee I´m also going to beat up Jim in the forums. And of course Dragon with it....

For the whiners... I´m sorry to say I rather see something being built by you guys then the constant complaining of kids that do not get what they want.... And it is not only the complaining.... It is the repetitive complaining of kids that do not get what they want and the complaining to the wrong people..... if you want something changed then write a letter to Dragon... Quoting Ron Volstad who I spoke a couple of weeks ago when he gave a lecture.... "If you want something to be changed write a letter to Dragon... they do listen to modelers..... Actually they don´t"

I guess you guys have to live with the idea that Dragon puts out whatever they want... And to get an old cliche... what they KNOW will sell. And with every new release they bring out they will not think by themselves: "Hey do we make ............................................ Happy with this release?" Fill in your name on the dots if you think you should be in that situation. Well I can tell you they don't. So you'd better sit back. Do not complain and watch what is coming out. And if it is not satisfactory to your demands I'd suggest you have a couple of other options... Buy resin, Learn sculpting figures, Start your own company... listening at the complains that are constantly made it should be a booming market (makes you wonder why the big companies are not joining in.) Or do as Andy Dufresne in Shawshank Redemption... write a letter a week.... if you are lucky you will do it in the same timeframe as Andy Dufresne (6 years) if you are more lucky maybe they listen to you sooner.

Bring em on!

With friendly greetz

Robert Blokker

Bravo Robert, could not have said it better.

Before bashing the poses, build them and try them in a diorama setting. The guy with the bandage and Teller mine seems posed to lean on/against a wall or something. Personaly I think he captures the feeling of a wounded, tired, weary soldier extremely well. He seems to be staring in the distance, caught in his thoughts miles away whilst around him the team get ready to spring an ambush.
The guy with the panzer faust (second from left) is obviously waiting, behind a corner/ against a wall or tree or such, for the officer to give the signal to advance.
The guy on the right can be either out front, signaling to the officer behind, or better still, pussing a door in a house to enter to get a better ambush position inside from a window or such..

Imagination.

Cheers

Teller mines weigh some 20 pounds, which is around 10 kilos in modern measurements..
