Pete...one question.....
referring to m1151
From
www.defenseindustrydaily.com
They're based on the same "A2" chassis as the M1114 up-armored Humvee and may be hard to tell apart, but there is an important difference....
The big difference is that the M1151/M1152 have armor that can quickly be installed and uninstalled from the vehicle by the crew members - without lift, and with as few tools as possible. This allows for fast modifications in the field rather than at depot, simplifying logistics and transport. It also allows for fast removal in situations where the extra armor is not needed, as the weight of the armor severely lowers the Hummer's service life despite the structural strengthening given to up-armored models. These vehicles come in 2-man and 4-man versions.
so....can m1151 mount m1114 doors or 1026 style doors?!

Ciro--I don't know for sure (Pete--please chime in to set me straight), but I think that the M1151 add-on armor package makes the doors look somewhat different from the M1114 doors and very different from the ASK kit doors. I doubt anybody is going to put an ASK kit on an M1151, since the ASK kit was a stopgap measure to provide better protection for lightly armored M998s, M1025s, M1026s, and others. I also doubt that anyone is going to put M1114 doors on an M1151--I don't even know if they would fit or work at all. If you want to model an M1151, it would be easiest to do one that does not have the add-on armor kit installed. That way you can use the Primaportal pictures Pete so kindly provided and you can start with an M1025 and do only limited modifications. I also haven't seen any good pictures of M1151s with the add-on armor, or any of them in Iraq/Afghanistan.

Like Lucus Ciro, I haven't been able to find any info on the add on armor. Since they are so new to us, we haven't even recieved the new updated ETM (Electronic Technical manuals) for them.
But, the doors on them are the same doors as a standard m1025 so therfore they are removed the same way.
I'll keep looking out for the new manuals when they show up in our shop.

It turns out the AM General site has the best pictures I've seen so far of the M1151 with add-on armor. I found one side picture and quickly did a comparison with the M1114. Here are the results. The color-coded circles point out areas where the two vehicles are different. The top vehicle is an M1151, the bottom one is an M1114.
As you can see, there are a lot of little details that are different--the doors are more rounded on the M1151, the roof is angular (a different AM General picture shows that the armored roof is made up of two separate sections that meet along the length of the vehicle), and there are additional bolts on the M1151's doors. These are the differences I've found so far--there are probably other minor ones. I think using MIG's M1114 and Tamiya's M1025 as a starting point would be the best way to go if you want to do this, but you may be better off building an M1114, since that is the most common Humvee in Iraq right now.

Many thanks for your comparison...Lucas....I think you're right....To realize M1114 will be more easy than M1151....An intersting Humvee that I would build(but not now,,,I'm talking about next mounth)is........ Write on google "Frankenstein monster humvee"...so you can see what I mean...But now, stop(for now)the research....It's modelling time, tonight I'll start my M1026!!!!! :-)

Ciro,
I sprayed Tamiya buff very lightly over the windows, but before, I masked the wiper blade area on the front ones. Then i took a very fine sanding stick and "scuffed" them up a bit to get that wiped looked.
Last night I finally put some paint on my A11 M1A1 from TF 1-64 and on my M1114. Hopefully I will have some pictures sometime this week.

You da man (as usual :-) ) Cant wait to see the M1114 and the AIM. I have my AIM next to do after the Humvee campaign. Cya around!

Ciro,
Use 1mm on the door armor and .5mm on the turret shield.
I was up late last night (long story) so I got a little bit more work done. I am hoping to take some pictures of what I got so far this weekend.
Gary,
I see you went for ther good stuff, thats a good price. Your gonna love the pens. if you dabble in aircraft, they are good for panel lines also.

HI Pete,
I dont do much aircraft anymore. My dad builds all those. BUt lately, he hasnt been interested. I had gotten him a trumpeter F105 with resin and photo etch for Christmas last year, but he hasnt built it. I thought he would like it as he used to work on them. However it looks like I will be the one building it So, I will keep your advice in mind on the panel lines. I am curious though, have you ever used anything in those pens besides ink? Maybe thinned paint? OR would that clog them up and ruin them?

Well, on my M998, it will say "Free Body PIercings" once my rapidograph pens show up. So you could use that if you like. One Hummer I saw had a black skull and cross bones written on the gun shield. ONe gun shield said "Death" on it. Another hummer I saw said (expletive) "Fu*k France" on the back. So there are some ideas for you.

As far as gun shield slogans.....any thing goes. I liked "Get 'er done', but what ever you want. Just look to pop culture and see what movie was popular or tv show at the time. I bet if you looked around you could flind "Car RamRod" from Super Troopers. Its just up to each crew, some units started going to naming conventions like they do for tracked vehicle ie...A co have "Angel of Death" and so on. Then again you will see soft skins like humvee's and lmtv's that use lettering kits to name their trucks on the glass near the roof. My favorite one of those was "BOHICA" "Bend Over Here It Comes Again". Just my 2 cents, like I said just use your imagination. Good luck.

I've seen some 998s running around with the 1151 doors. Unless they were 1151s with the clamshell removed and a soft top installed, I was only driving past them.
I've got several pics of the Red Dot AC units, and I plan to get some more. I haven't had my tape measure with me any of the times I've been able to snap some pics, but I will get some measurements within the next 6 weeks, since there aren't any HUMVEEs where I am that have them.

A couple of things about 1114s I haven't seen mentioned: the antenna for the Warlock system is now standard on all M1114s and M1151s. Here at FOB Rustamiyah you can't leave the wire without one. It is basically a meter long cylinder that occupies the spot the the left rear radio antenna would be at on a M1025 or 998. Also the Rhino which a device used to fool IR activated IEDs into going off early. The Rhino is basically a black box (usually a 20 mm ammocan) on the end of a 1 1/2 meter long pole mounted on the front center of the front bumper, about where the winch was. I'll get you some pictures as soon as the camera I ordered arrives. My old camera succumbed to the sand and dust, so I'm kind of stuck right now. I was supposed to get some Bradley pics too, but I will get both as soon as I can.
