I've got both the H & C books 'D Day to VE day' and I can't recommend them highly enough. The second does concentrate more on vehicles and organizational charts but is still a must buy. I'd also add in the H & C book on British Armour in Normandy...

Hi Al,
Martin Brayley and Richard Ingrams are well known for their books about British uniforms. They come highly recommended by the history guys... haven't read the other 2 you mention so can't endorse them personally...

I was lucky enough to purchase 4 of these books from somebody at work who was selling out, a lot of old books (these two and the Canadian and American versions) and can totally agree ... great books.
The photography is excellent ... very clear and good size photographs, and I must say ... perfect for anybody who is interested in painting figures. Great coverage of their gear and accessories aswell. They´re so good actually, I´d definately be interested in buying more of their books.

Huh. I have Gordon's "Uniforms of the WWII Tommy" (IBSN 1-57510-122-X) adn "Equipment of the WWII Tommy" (IBSN 1-57510-107-6) -- both very nice books with color and black and white photos.

Hi Al
As well as the above, there's also Martin Brayley's book on British webbing, published by Crowood

I was doing a search for Volumes 1 and 2 of the H.C. books on the British soldiers when I found a listing for volume 3, on the Canadians.
http://www.biblio.com/books/16060946.html Once I can afford the first two this will have to be added to the list of must haves.
