I recently got my hands on a Heller 1/650 Eiffel tower - looks to be a nice kit - anybody build this or seen it built up? Too bad I cant find a bunch of 1/650 German tanks to park around it! - just to show it in it's "natural state"

John, I'd respectfully suggest that in it's natural state the Eiffel Tower doesn't have German tanks around it

I hope it's a joke...
If you want to build the Effeil tower in it's natural state, pick up some 1/650 tourist bus and load them with Japonese... :-)

I don't think there would be all that much visible detail
on a tank in 1/650th scale. Something BIG like a Tiger
would be somewhere around one centimetre long
(less than half of an inch) and maybe 3 mm wide.
A Pz IV would fit in the little rectangle below with parking
space to spare, maybe the barrel would stick out a little

If you want to go ahead with this I'd suggest
scratchbuilding based on measurements taken
from 1/72 vehicles or maybe 1/144th if there is any.
There is, or at least used to be, vehicles in 1/700
made by Pit-Road
http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Maker1=PIT&MacroType=Oth&GenreCode=Mil&Dis=2
and if you look at the images the amount of "detail" in that
scale is fairly minimal and should be easy to reproduce.
The size of the package for 8 Panthers is 13x8x1 cm and
the lot weighs 20 grams so each tank is something like
2 grams of whitemetal, 1/650 would be a little larger ....

Pit Road/Skywave also used to produce 1/700 tanks in plastic, including a few German types, an HVSS Sherman and a couple of softskins.
The set turns up on e-Buy occasionally, but I wouldn't run to get it, mine suffered quite badly from sink marks.
