Hi its been a very long time since I posted anything to this site, (LCM6 was the last) I have been working on a French Street as the backdrop for displaying models. I have been making one side of a street to go into a wall mounted display case. So far I have scratch built 4 of the buildings with a couple more to go. All comments/help wellcome, thanks Andy

And please keep the post updated , i cant wait to see it finished..!
Thanks again for sharing. Good day..!!

It does look good so far. What will the scene be? The wall mounting sounds intriging will it be a like a big shadow box or box frame?

Andy,
Looking good so far. Please keep us posted. I'm intrigued by how you're going to display this as a wall mount.

Hi, Sorry about the link I haven't quite got the hang of posting images! I may eventually write this project up as an article if it comes out good enough and Jim wants it.
The display case is one of three on the walls of my den, i've added a picture of it to the link (below). I'm going to move the shelf down and have the entire bottom half as the diorama. I've put one of the buildings in it to give an idea of the size. The plan is that the cabinet will keep the dust off and I can change around the vehicles and figures. I'm thinking at the moment that it will be an early war diorama of the Germans moving in to occupy a small French town/village which is undamaged. I photographed the actual buidlings in Normandy over the last couple of years and I've used the pictures to draw up some scale plans.
I have found that most commercially available buildings are a bit too "Disney" for me if you know what I mean, no offence to Uncle Walt but I think a lot are imagined rather than based on an actual building.
The main part of the buildings are from off cuts of mounting board from the local art shop and from Evergreen sheet, rod and strip styrene. The roof slates are from thin card folders. I am going to glaze all the windows with opaque plastic which will relect light but not allow you to see in, although I am building shallow boxes behind each window.
It's going to take some time to finish put i'll keep you posted. Thank you for your comments and questions
regards Andy

Like every one else has said, "Very Nice!"
I'm amazed at yor transition from photo to blueprint to build. Can't wait to see more.

Hi Andy
I like your diorama and progress.
If you are interested, I have some Commercial Signs - Kodaks - Lumiere
that I produced some 25 years ago.
The only thing is, the Kodaks are vertical, the Lumiere is horizontal.
let me know if you want them.
