We've just been sent this (initial) Box-art image from AFV Club which should curtail some of the speculation. THe SECOND Stryker variant has been announced for 2nd half of 2007...

Wow, I did not see that one coming. It is a much more attractive variant IMO than the standard Stryker. I might end up with one of these in my stash.

Thanks for the news

Can someone explain to the Strykerly-Challenged exactly what this variant is? Is it a production vehicle and what is it armed with (looks to my amateur eye to be a 105mm)? - Thanks!

Now I hope they are not going off the original versions of the MGS. The pic you see here and the actual vehicle are diffrent. But I believe that AFV is on top of it. I wonder how long it will take for AFV to come out with the whole family?

It's the one we had here last year. It's the "tank" version of the Stryker. Not designed to go head to head with an MBT, but to provide direct fire support and limited anti-armor capability to the rapidly deployed Stryker Brigades.

If you notice the extension on the tube, the problem with the original gun tube length was that the concussion from the main gun would have an adverse effect upon the driver. They lengthen the tube to keep the driver from being incapacitated when the gun was fired directly over his head.

I wanted a Stryker since I first saw them, but I REALLY want the MGS version! AFV club has heard and answered my wish. Awesome!

I'll be picking at least one of these up, along with the troop carrier when they hit the shelves. Bring on all the variants.

Cool! I'm looking forward to seeing how this is !

Best of all, I think it adds some much needed "pep" to AFV-Club's offerings. Now hopefully Hobby Fan resin will follow with some nice additions or figures for AFV Club, and hopefully Hobby Fan's release timing will coincide with AFV Club's Stryker releases.

Someone still needs to make an infantry squad for the Stryker complete with MGs, Javelin carriers, and ACUs. Any takers ?

Is this in addition to the "regular" Stryker thet they announced earlier, or will this be "THE" one they come out with?

Wow, that is nice. I may have to build one to take a break from all those pesky indy track links.

The hits just keep on coming.

I wonder how many test firings were required before this was determined to be necessary.

Robin,
Would this be the advers affect on the driver that you speak of?

NICE CALL AFV CLUB!!! This is the version that I admired most about the Stryker!

At least now that vision of an anti-tank gun mounted on an M113 chassis will go away!

Awesome!

Now when will we see Command Variant (CV), Reconnaissance Variant (RV) Mortar Carrier B Variant (MC-B) Fire Support Variant (FSV), ATGM, and Engineer Variants?

By the end of the summer, My Squadron's full compliment of vehicles will be sitting in our motor pools... 39 of 55 will be RVs.. I want to build one!

Rob,

The only Stryker released so far is from Trumpeter.

AFV Club's first Stryker is allegedly coming out in April and the newly announced M1128 MGS is scheduled for "late 2007".

No word on Dragon's kit.
