Your model is progressing quite nicely. I'm glad to see that someone else builds as sporadic as I do. Please keep the updates coming, no matter how far apart they get.

Hello
This is 1 impressive build. the more I look at it the more my jaw drops open. You must be a very patient modeller as that bar armour would drive me crazy.
GREAT Build.

Hi Chris,

Your build is absolutely stunning ! Thats awesome !

I got your pm well.

I will help and send you the whole secret of my full scratching the 1/35 LVTH6 turret, but it will be tomorrow, as in France it is 10 to midnight and I do feel really tired.

Stay tuned...

Meanwhile, here are some little pixies...

The turret looks good. How much are you selling them for? I may want one.

You all know how I hate that resin turret...its off size and very poor in detail..but it was cheap.
So some mails en foto`s later, It was time to build it myself.

Richard (kerojp8) has been a big help voor building my turret.
I came up with this in a few hours off building
this is still raw, commanders coupola an loaders hats, antenna`s and details still missing.
mabye later tonight..

richard thanks again for your help!!!

The roof is not the one Ill be using, just made it for the foto.

Chris,
I have been following this build with much interest and have great respect for your scratch building skills. I have always been fascinated by the Vietnam era Monitor boats and for many years wanted to build one in 1/35th scale. What little scratch building skills I might have would never allow me to do what you have managed so I took the more costly route and brought the Masterpiece Models kits of the 'Program 5 Command and Communication Boat' & 'Program 5 'ZIPPO' flamethrower river boat' (they also have a PACV Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle and ATC Tango Flat Top Mini "coming soon" not sure if the wife or bank manager will allow them?) They are really lovely resin kits and well worth the cost. It's a shame the turret you got from them wasn't up to the job
I'm looking forward to seeing this build through to the end.
Thanks for sharing

david.

Thank you for your interest!

I know about the masterpiece monitor for a few years now..there great! I know for sure.
I have great contact with the guy who did the masters for them.

I know his work is really great! And I have great respect voor his scratch building skills.
About my turret I think I just had a mis cast or a left over or whatever we want to call it.

I have seen the master, John made for them and it was awesome!
Iam not even close with my building skills.
But the casting wasn`t good enough for me.(hope for you it is)
Same goes for the monitors, i have seen the master for the ATC-H .thats was really .REALY good. But I did not want to pay that kind of money for what could be a miscast or whatever at that time.

I will buy the monitors some day , but I know for sure Ill remodel them.money is not a option and about my wife/girlfriend...she let me do my thing. whatever the cost

The reason I build "nam" serie`s is the same as yours, and there aern`t many kits around, so more work for me...lol
We all can build WW2 everything is for sale in that section...

sorry for the long letter..
again thank you for your interest , and scratching something is easy.
just ask for help.., richard(kerojr8) an Robert blokker (Faust) helpt me out .
so if I can, let me know.

regards
chris

fellow builders
First of all. sorry for being a boot in a tank corner, but someone put me here..
I like it here, so if you guy`s don`t mind......

next up the deckhouse en bar armour. it is not done yet ,I have to put everything straight and start sanding down...
I forgot to take pictures of the building process from the deckhouse, but it is pretty straight forward.
the right side needs 4 more windows.. but ill call it a night.
for people who wanted to know.......423 bars so far.....

regards.

I had this from Jack at Brown Water Enterprises about the future releases of a tango boat and a monitor (retailing hopefully at about £100)

"I was just informed by the manufacture they are shooting for sometime in the winter of 08 for the Monitor and 1st quarter 09 for the Tango."

Can't wait - By the look of Chris/gizmo21's work above, I certainly don't have the patience to build something as beautiful as that from scratch but you'll forgive me, I hope, for taking the resin short-cut routes offered by BWE in the near future...
