Due to my injury, I have still been unable to do antmore to this baby, but I wanted to show you guys (and gals, Penny)...that I do make the odd model or two and not just try to give advice / help on this site.
Pictures of the scratchbuilt cab fuel tank made from plastic card:

Picture of the weathered rear end:

and a picture of the chasis, Note the red cylinder "chipped" following my method on chipped paint techniques and realistic metal finishes (engine) articles on this site.

NOTE also the tow rope made of cotton thread (with the correct LEFT twist for German WWII armour.

Hope you enjoy!

Ola Martin

I really love the look of that. The weathering is very good and I sure like the chipped effect on that red tank. The scratchbuilt fuel tank did you have an example for that or did you scratched it from a picture.
anyway really good work so fa really can`t wait to see that finished

Thanks guys,
The tank is made from an old piece of solid plastic filed down to the correct shape, and plastic card wrapped around it. I am working from the Nuts and Bolts issue for the Famo as my principle resource.
The kit tank is incorrect as the original has a corner cut off, as in the picture above.
The filler cap is made from two different sizes of rod, cut together and finished off with PE.
Rivets made by holding stretched sprue in front of a candle flame.

Everything else I followed my own articles here on Armorama.

The rust streaks on the chassis are only in thier first stage and are too heavy, they will be blended in more and highlighted with orange for new rust.

Exhaust smoke is smoke from the candle above and collected on scrap card.

Cheers

Very impressive Martin! I really like what you've done and I hope you don't mind if I use these pictures as references for painting my own Famo.

Excellent job Martin. You really have some skills in detail painting. :-) Looking forward to the next installment.

That rusty can is real good :-)

A word of cauton: the red paint on the oxygen cylinder is not authentic, I have used artistic license to show the scratch / chip technique.
The cylinder should be the same colour as the rest of the vehicle...I've never been a rivet counter to that extreme.
Cheers

Hi,
It looks good, I'm going to make a suggestion though, the scratch built fuel tank is nice, however to get the rivets straighter, try using Tamiya Super Thin cement, you just brush some of the super thin cement in the general area of where the rivets with be attached, than quickly place down the rivets, the tamiya cement will allow you to move the rivet into the exact position you want it in, and than let it dry, than go over the rivet with another layer of Super thin cement for extra strength, don't worry about getting the cement on the surface of the part, as it's so thin it will not be noticeable after painting, also, if your going to do alot of rivets, to save time and get uniformity, try using Grandt line rivets, available from any Train shop, they are cheap, come in alot of sizes and type, and you get like 200 in a pack for about $2

I saw your posting on Missing-Lynx, I'm sorry about that guy who bashed your post, It's usually a very friendly group, and I'm surprised it happened, I hope you have better luck...

Thanx guys, and thanx too Steve. The middle rivet will be moved over. I have a GREIF, rivet maker, so will use that to make new ones. Thanx for the advice and yes I think it is friendlier here than there!!!!!!
I for one will n ot be visiting the "other place" in a hurry. I have asked the webmaster to remove ALL my previous posts.
