I haven't bought one yet, but I have read various reviews - it can be built up nicely, and I hope to get one someday. It certainly isn't the greatest model ever, but you aren't spoiled for choice.

This reviewer, like most of the ones I've seen hated the tracks

There are AM ones out there and also a PE set from Eduard, that's if the price of the kit alone isn't the problem

RPM also did a set of indy tracks for this kit that were nice, but tricky to assemble.

Well, if you want an FT-17, it's the only game on town. The aftermarket RPM indie link tracks aren't bad, but Model Kasten has a set that's amazing. No pins--they snap together. And Aber offers a couple of huge photoetch sets.

Thanks All, that helped!
Well it seems that my WWI collection is going to expand
This is going to hurt after the PE and Tracks, they cost more than the model.
Your help was greatly needed thanks again.

Chaps
That's not quite true; Scalelink do a fantastic FT17, albeit at a considerable price.
Personally, I think the RPM kit isn't that bad - take your time if you're going to use the kit tracks, don't rush them. Nearly all the problems I've had with kits (be they plastic, resin or white metal) have boiled down to my own lack of patience. The best solution is to take a deep breath and slow things down. If it still doesn't work, remember that this is just a hobby and we're supposed to be enjoying it...
Good luck with the FT17, I hope you enjoy it.
Cheers

I have this kit on my list of imminent builds ....I have collected the Aber PE and Fruil tracks and I agree ...this is not up to the technology were used to seeing today, but it is dripping with potential. The key with this kit is to use modelling skills to bring out that potential (my humble opinion)...I love the kit
