Meng Model have just announced the release of a 1/35 scale French Char 2C heavy tank.
Looking a little like a tracked battle ship, Meng Models latest release of the rather imposing French Char 2C heavy tank will certainly make an impressive 1/35 scale build. The kit contains slide moulded parts, a Photo Etch fret and 'Cement-free workable track links are easy to assemble' which sounds interesting. Three decal schemes are also supplied, I certainly look forward to seeing one of these monster tanks finished.

Item number:TS-009

Armorama would like to thank Meng for the update on this new tank.

Yup ! That's true :-) but it is still a really cool model and a lot more interesting than all the various "paper panzers" used by the Wehrmacht in 1946 ;-) Now if someone (Meng? Are you listening??) could do the German K-Wagen (building started during the war, the one or two halfbuilt ones were scrapped I think ...) / Robin

I think grumpy users will increase markedly in both number and grumpiness if they suspect that the wording of headings is chosen as part of a scheme calculated to manipulate page views and bump advertising revenue rather than provide information. KL

Just to let you know there is absolutely no attempt to manipulate page views for any reason. The goal of the news is provide viewers with access to information on newly released or upcoming kits and/or accessories. The goal of the titles is to have unique titles that may be a little inquizative and maybe a little fun. Stating the name of the release in the title is rather boring and if that is done, why bother writing a news story. My goal for Armorama is to make the site interesting and fun for users, unlike some of the other sites out there. And I beleive the popularity of Armorama proves the point. This is a community, and not all people will like the same thing, and there is expected to be differences in opinions. With that said, we can't please everyone.

While I have been guilty of running some cryptically named news threads in the past, I fail to see what you are complaining about here. The name of the vehicle is in the title which I would have thought would make it blindingly obvious what the news story was about, I know the word 'build' is at the end of the title which is a little odd but I am not in the head of the editor and so I do not know what he was thinking.

What is wrong with the Academy one now that they corrected the issue with the bogies? And it even has a pretty good interior.
Hi, Darren! Even with the "corrected" bogies and a nice interior, there are still a few issues with the ACADEMY M3Lee/Grant kits- the shapes of the turrets, and some of the features and shapes of the upper hull panels are not quite right. The details are just a bit more heavy-handed than a TASCA or a newly-tooled TAMIYA offering would be. I have one each of the two ACADEMY M3 kits, mainly because no one else has bothered to cast better M3 Mediums-except for the old and awful TAMIYA kits. I'm sure that you'd agree with me when I say that TASCA or some of the other quality armor kit manufacturers could provide us with better M3 Mediums. I'm not saying that ACADEMY's M3s are bad kits, just that they could stand to be a little bit better... What I'm REALLY put-off about is the lack of a state-of-the-art M8 HMC...

The M19 Tank Transporter isn't even going to be released under the Hobby Boss label. It's been moved to the Merit International label instead. As for the fate of the 666, that still remains to be seen.
Don't look now but CYBERMODELLER still lists the M19 under the HOBBY BOSS label. I am aware that MERIT INTERNATIONAL is supposed to be doing the M19, but I hadn't read or noticed anything about MERIT picking up their M19 from HOBBY BOSS. Do you think the 666 and the M19 will actually make it into production, or will they be swept under the rug as DRAGON did with the M3 and AFV CLUB did with the M8..? PS- I REALLY like the idea of a Char 2C making it into the realm of 1/35 armor. Even though the 2C was an inter-war vehicle, this kit will be right at home alongside the ZVEZDA/ALANGER T-28 and T-35. What with the EASTERN EXPRESS, ZVEZDA and TAMIYA BT-series tank kits, pre-war and early WWII armor are interesting in that they fill in the blanks between the two world wars. COMMANDER MODELS has some really great resin kits of tanks in this era, but I think that plastic kits of these vehicles would be very welcome with modellers who hesitate in plunking down their hard-earned money for the expensive resin kits...

Dennis I may be wrong but I believe you will find all of the noise about turret shape when it was released was in error, as I am sure that it was later acknowledged to be accurate.

OK, I'll have to admit that I stand corrected. Question: Is it worth it to use the LEGEND Conversion (upper hull, turret, etc) for the ACADEMY Lee/Grant kits?
OCT 25, 2013 - 04:54 AM
That I cannot answer and it may be best to start a thread asking that question.
