The latest announcement from Trumpeter has some more great looking Soviet armor heading our way.
Trumpeter has announced the latest batch of Soviet armor heading our way with two new kits. The first is a favorite heavy hitter from the popular World of Tanks, the Object 704 self-propelled gun. The second is another variant of the Russian T-80 with the T-80BVD.

05575 – Soviet Project 704 SPH
05581 – Russian T-80BVD MBT

Both kits are stated for a March 2014 release.

Hi Everybody; Yes Great News; BUT Obj;174 has already been talked about in some length, its another of the Failed Paper Concepts that Prevailed in the Soviet Union at that time. Now there will be some who will welcome this vehicle, BUT I don't think it will draw much Fanfare and I don't think it will make the Top 1,000 sells list. On the other hand the T-80bvd will gather much more attention in both Sales and Popularity with the Average Collector, now I don't express myself as A Soviet Expert and maybe some one else can Help with this vehicle. Maybe Mr. Alex Clark, or JD will Chime in on this. The BVD in the Designator means that its Engine is A Diesel powered version of the T-80. Now I am not quite sure about this, but I think that is what the D is in the designator. Now if I am wrong, Please Someone Correct Me. In any case, another vehicle for us Soviet Tread Heads. Again-Thanks Trumpeter; MIKE.

i think though that there is a large untapped market for these experimental types with the World of Tanks crowd. I know people at work who are buying their first model ever (T28, E75, etc) because they liked the vehicle in the game.

Yeah, between this and the Churchill Gun Carrier also announced recently, I think there's no doubt of the influence of World of Tanks on armor modeling...
