Bronco Models have released the news officially that I have been sitting on, the Horsa is finally a reality.
Bronco Models has come to the rescue of all those modellers who were glum when Master Box took the model off of their future releases section. Bronco Models will have this out before Xmas, September or October I believe from past experience. This will mean a lot of letters to Santa I suspect from middle aged modellers. The Airspeed A.S. 51 Horsa Glider Mk 1 from Bronco Models has a few more surprises in its belly I suspect knowing the content that Bronco Models usually supplies.

It may sell, but how many will get built? Italeri produced some very nice 1/35 torpedo boats - Vosper, PT boat, S-Boat, etc, but apart from a few builds online, I haven't seen any at model competitions. I have the S-Boot myself, with AM PE and resin, and optional Bofors (Bronco), or Flakvierling (AFV), if I want to cusomize it. But it's still sitting on a top shelf - it's just too damn big!

I'm still hoping that they release a half or even quarter model for us dio builders. I just don't have space on the shelf for a full horsa.

I don't think the size will put people off, aircraft modellers build plenty in 1/32 scale and the glider could be broken in two parts so it should be adaptable for those who wish a small scene. I can't say who builds what ship wise but Italeria have released a second version of the Vosper so they must think it's worth the effort. Al

I'm not... I'll start it, & in 2 years' time Bronco will release a kit when I got it 85% finished... but in 1/48th... [/quote] Well... the 1/48th FM Horsa is about 95% finished... so any day now...

There have been a number of ideas posed about making a half-size dio using only the front/rear of the glider, mostly to save space. The cad photos on PMMS seem to show that the fuselage will be one major (lengthwise) piece. Which would mean some cutting/sawing. Full size or partial, either way is gonna be a major build. Gotta start saving up and clearing some space!
