Commander Models has a new resin conversion to make the T6, a prototype of the famous Sherman tank. Based on the DML M4 DV kit (#6404), this set gives a new upper hull and turret.
2-012 US T6 Medium Tank

It is currently on sale as part of their April "monthly special" - see their website for more details. (http://ironshipwrights.com/armor/armor_monthspecials.html)

Will be interesting to see how it compares to TMDs version... Gary

Is this sarcasm? I mean, their models are unique, I agree that the sprues idea is a good one, but well done, easy to get good results and accurate? Come on... Have you built any of their models? I'm building one now and accuracy is nonexistent to the point I have to scratchbuild all the details that are not main body parts or cast off plastic kits. If they take this poor research and quality approach that they took with T29, with their other kits, then they're not worth the price of resin they are cast from. To stay back on topic, I'm no expert on the T6 and sherman, I'd have to actually educate myself in the subject more, but even at a first glance, they didn't even bother to blend that shell ejection/pistol port molding into the turret side (it was also smaller an differently built, just as shown in Gary's photo of TMD T6...) Cheers, Greg

Brilliant!

I'm sure the "It's close enough to a T6 for me!" modeler would be happy with the detailing and accuracy of either kit. If you want to go over them with a fine-toothed comb there are many photos of the T6 on the Sherman Minutia site that will be useful. KL

Looks like a T6, and most modelers will be happy that it is available even if it is not 100% accurate.

Whatever "most modelers" would feel, it's the numbers who would make a choice between the CSM or TMD one that only really matters. I suspect that the extremely limited audience who would be willing to shell out serious money for a resin conversion for a T6 Sherman likely may already know about the TMD variant. I'm glad CSM continues to put out product but to be frank, this one is a head scratcher to me.

From what I was able to deduce when researching to build mine, the .30 cal and commanders cupola were only fitted to the mock up version. Hence why I added a 'standard' split hatch on mine to depict it during trials. Gary

Shape of the side hatch is different and TMD detail looks better, though that may be a testament to Gary's usual great work.
