The SADF vehicles of the 1970s/80s were way ahead of the game at the time. Just as a side note, there is no such thing as a 'red cat'. While the direct translation of the Afrikaans word 'rooikat' is red cat, English speaking South Africans refer to the animal as a 'caracal'.

Cool! I was hoping one of the companies out there would eventually get to South African armor subjects!! I'm with Foxtrot1, hoping to see the Buffel,Ratel,Caspirs et al AND SOME S.A. INFANTRY AND AFV CREW FIGURES (and bad guys) as well! Would also be great to see a 35th scale Alouette Gazelle III, too! Great news. Although this particular vehicle is not on my aforementioned wish list, I'll pick the kit up just to support Trumpeter's choice of South African armor...

If you look at the turret details for the Trumpeter test build it looks like the 76 mm version and not the 105 mm prototype. I wonder if Trumpeter is producing the 76 mm in service version and simply labelled the title wrong. It would not be the first time pre-production info was incorrect.

Yes, you are right! It's the 76mm version. Not that I'm complaining.

No matter which gun is installed, It will look good next to my M1128 MGS and Centauro.
