Dragon continues its M48 Patton family of main battle tanks in its 1/35 scale plastic kit range, with the latest item in the line-up being the M48A5.
The main change introduced on the M48A5 variant was the addition of a 105mm gun instead of the previously used 90mm weapon.

The M48A5 was introduced in the mid-1970s and it used as many parts as possible that were in common with the M60.

This 1/35 scale kit is carefully crafted to create an M48A5 variant with the more powerful weapon. Of course, a major change is the inclusion of the 105mm gun tube, but there are other not-so-obvious changes as well.

There’s also a new portable fire extinguisher mounted on the rear-left side of the turret, while the tool and stowage arrangement on both fenders has been modified to suit the M48A5 type.

Of great convenience to modellers, this new kit includes new easy-to-assemble DS tracks.

This M48A5 with 105mm gun is a welcome addition to Dragon’s modern range of vehicle kits, and the fact that it continues to be used even today by some militaries, as well as being fielded by the US in times past, makes it a versatile kit in the hands of modellers.

Wouldn't it also need smoke grenade launchers and spare grenade boxes? I could be wrong, but didn't US forces in South Korea have their A5's set up that way?

The Korean ones would also need 50 caliber guns on the TC cupola. So I'm thinking this is more for US National Guard and export tanks.

I'm guessing the barrel is from their M60 kit. By throwing in the barrel sprue, and a few other parts, you would have what you need for the M48A5.[/quote] What? The barrel on Dragon's M60 is seriously inaccurate.

I didn't say it would be accurate, just where the parts are likely coming from.

Their (Dragon's) M60-D machine guns should be interesting to see. I know that there are 3-D printed D models available now. If they are like the straight M-60s I purchased recently, then should be fine.

They have already done M60 D in one of their Helicopter crew sets from the 90's!

Remember when at least the conceptional art was accurate for a model? Look at the render and the too thin gun barrel and undersized searchlight are glaringly obvious. But under the wrong pieces there is a decent M48 so rework the cupola and replace the gun barrel you'll be good to go which is good deal less than what one has to do to the Academy kit. Though you can get the Academy kit for $20 these days.

Urgs, another kit i can't buy, something is wrong and details missing. Still no kits in my stash, have to wait for the perfect kit.
