well this is the third or maybe even the fourth reincarnation of the Italeri kit. Even in first issue, it wasn't terrible. Still I've longed for somebody like GWH, Meng or Takom to tackle this little beast that often played a critical role in WWII. Suspension looks the same to me as the older kits (I still have two or three), and I don't think Tamiya did an upgrade here as well. At least one after market company made tracks for the kit. I've thought about combining the Dragon kit with the Italeri kit (suspension & tracks), but have never bit the bullet. Not yet anyway! My real concern is with the cradle and rocket tubes as supplied by Italeri. We all know they need a major improvement. Plus I've never been overly fond of the front wheels and tires, but the Dragon stuff falls into place here as well. You'd also thought by now that Italeri would have done a major interior upgrade to the kit the seem to own a monopoly on! gary

The kit can definitely use some AM help. The tires should probably be the more usual eight hole - rather than six - I've yet to see a photo with werfers with six-holed wheels. A few wheel wheel options out there, and I believe the PE upgrade for the launcher is still available.

Which tyres / wheels do you mean? The road wheels have four holes, the front wheels have eight, the idler has six, all of which seem OK, I think. The separate track links are a good idea as this vehicle always exhibits a lot of track sag, including under the idler, giving it a distinctive look. The next enhancement could be a sprue for the 24x8cm rail vielfachwerfer, that would be awesome.

Annoyingly, Italeri insist on eight-hole tires on their box art - in reality every boxing I've seen has just the early six-hole pattern.I have 13 Italeri kits in various forms and even the late wooden box version has the early style.

Wow, its baacck! "Low in cost" would probably sum it up pretty well. An update would have been appreciated, or better yet, someone else issue a modern version of the kit.

It looks like that is only the case with the original Maultier kit. I couldn't find a photo of the sprue, but this photo shows the six hole wheel in the built model on the Testors boxing: While the sprue shot from the Italeri site shows that the wheel in this Panzerwerfer 42 kit has eight holes, and I think it always has had. Although it is said to be based on the old Italeri Maultier kit, none of the sprues are directly shared.
